AN AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER

Recommended Posts

It is those now claiming to have discovered her work Heather who are putting her forward as an example of a "Street Photographer" and so assigning the title. The lady herself was evidently reclusive so did not even publish her photo's and never claimed to be one. One wonders who is now profiting from promoting her pictures as such after her death, as evidently she never did?

but she photographs people going about their lives in the street, whether she has asked them to freeze for a moment so she can capture it or not doesnt matter to me,  in my eyes shes a street photographer

i guess its all about how you see things  :)

Without her we wouldn't know what life was like in her areas of New York, the fashions, the transport, the streets, and life in general, thank goodness there are folk like her who have the vision to record precious moments in time, even though a number may have been posed

The lass didn't want to become famous, but it is very obvious that she gained much pleasure from recording what she saw around her, even more admirable when you think how much she must have spent on film and processing from her ...Nanny....wages

Just think too, that she had to wait days to see the results of her efforts.......her story, is similar to many other artists and visionaries who weren't discovered until after their demise........I would rather wander with a camera, than just.....wander, wondering ;-)

One thing for sure, not many of my prints will be found in boxes.....but I have thousands of photographs on PC drives.....in my will I advise my family to go through them with care, because, they and I know I record life in my small town on an almost daily basis.

Love life and smell the coffee, is my motto.

Film and cameras in the 50's wernt as fast as now so posed would be inevitable

But to get posed looking like unposed is an art in its self

I love Whitby and the nostalgic photos of Sutcliffe but the vast majority were posed and belive it or not some were contraversal in there time
