Manfrotto - question for BP?

Recommended Posts

problem with the wing nut / locking key refusing to tighten

can't find the relevant spare on Manfro's web site,

not sure if I can remove the complete head nothing to fit a spanner on and I don't want to force it  - suggestions please

Model is MKC3 - P01 compact 40cm in length to fit in my back pack. rest of tripod is in rally good condition and I would rather not just have to dump it!

Some Manfrotto tripods have a weird way of removing the head - you guessed it - yours is one of them. There is a bolt inside the centre column so you'll need a geet bit socket extension to reach it. On mine you can just unscrew the head but to take the head mount off I have the same issue.

See here for instructions:

Bit of an update for you BP - the bottom end of mine is different and has a press-in stud to prevent the centre bar sliding out, held in with a really small and annoying allen key type thing (pic later).

I know the one you mean - its a while since I've fiddled with one but I think the head should unscrew from the plate - which is then removed from the column in the way I originally posted.

I have an almost identical tripod but its out on loan at the moment. If you don't have any luck unscrewing the head this week I'll have at mine come the weekend.

Any info would be appreciated BP, I'm still trying to remove the head!
