Newcastle Civic Centre

I met up with a good friend and fellow photographer last night for a catch-up, geek-talk over a cup of tea and a bit of actual photography. We both shot mostly film so those won't be available for a while but I did also have the iPhone and the trusty K30/50mm combo with me...

I do like the abstract quality of the last one, BP, and the sculptures, particularly the third one.

Can i admit to not liking the Civic Centre as a building - from a distance (approaching Barras Bridge or from top of Haymarket and  Northumberland Street), although it's now Grade ll listed.  It reminds me too much of the T Dan Smith era and all those high rise blocks from Low Fell right up the A1 and beyond to Fawden. The Gateshead 'Get Carter' car park and many of the Gateshead blocks have gone but the Civic Centre remains - shortly to be improved. The Byker flats are still there but don't look so bright and optimistic as they did.

Funny you should be in Newcastle yesterday - we went to Whitburn

I have to admit its not a pretty building, dramatic maybe but not top of my list. We walked up from High Bridge where my mate has a studio heading towards Quillians at Haymarket so this was on our (wandering) route and it has to be 20+ years since I've taken any picture of it.

Weird that you were in Whitburn

Good set of shots. Can I ask, what film were you shooting with? And second, what cameras/lenses? (I hope we see the results sometime...)

I had a roll of Fuji 200 colour neg in a Nikon 35Ti (Google it as its properly cool) that I have been meaning to finish for ages. My make had a FM2n with a 85mm f1.4 on the front....again a cool combo.
