Personal Website?

I'm toying with the idea of a website for my portfolio etc. but I can't really decide if it is worth the hassle as this is only a hobby for me.

Do you have a website that you maintain & is it worth the work?

I just had a look at squarespace, looks reasonable and it seems you get the domain name (which I don't yet have) and hosting included in the monthly price.

I've known people go for Weebly - it seems a good choice.

Except WordPress only gives you a blog, not a personal website as such. There are fewer possibilities.

I had a go with Weebly a couple of years back found it a little clunky but easy to use. Regarding your 'weebly' version it looks better than I remember but the thumbnails are not enlarging - should they?

Going back to your original post and "is it worth it" well I think so but you do need to tell people it is there and keep reminding them too!  

As an idea (although I don't know if you can with weebly) family photos, weddings etc often work best in private folders that enable you to email a link or code over to family so they can view knowing their face is not splashed all over the web.

I would also recommend you look at a personal domain name check out http://www.lcn.com and see what is available - BUT check if weebly will let you use a personal domain as previously the free version wouldn't let you link.

I'm not a massive fan of Weebly but what you've done so far is looking very professional.

This is really really really weird. The last post is Judy's, which I quoted, and there is a phantom reply from Dave surrounding it. Spooky. (Now when I edit it, Judy's quoted post isn't even there!! Please ignore the quote from Dave and look back to Judy's preceding post to see what I'm replying to).

I really wanted just to say to Judy - sites like Weebly (and most others) don't require any coding, just layout.

That's weird. My sister used Weebly for her writing website and didn't have to code at all. Just set up the various components and she was away.
