These were taken with a sigma 150-500 lens. I was on top of a cliff looking down on the surfers and was about a mile away (as crow flies, may have been slightly further).

the above images were slightly cropped, however this image below is the original.

I am quite impressed with this lens, used it at the farne islands, for the fox cub images and other various wild life shots.

the weight may be a big issue to some but you get used to it and you can use a folded tripod or monopod (or a wall or fence if available) to help with support.

I found panning (while using a monopod) had mixed results and seemed to improve without.

auto focus I found was quick with decent results at the 500mm end (hand held) however if the focus ring is moved while carrying I had to re-focus for the auto focus to hunt and capture quickly.
