Although I've had a camera for over 40 years (SLR for my 21st) it was 12th September 2012 when I bought my first proper DSLR - a second hand Canon 5D Mk1.  This was the date that I started to learn photography properly, rules of thirds, post processing, etc. (And this was the present to reward me for stopping smoking :) )

Why is the date significant?

Well, yesterday I received an enquiry from an existing customer for some images and she wants a 16"x12" print of this one.  I only took it 10 days after I bought the camera and hadn't even heard about the rule of thirds, composition and stuff like that.  Never occurred to me I'd sell it!!!

(Taken with the fairly cheap but reasonably good value 70-300mm lens, now sold.)

Have to say that, while I wouldn't delete it, it's not a shot that would have jumped out at me either. Just goes to show :yes

That's how my XT-1 came about :)
