My PC is not Internet connected and does not have built in wifi. It runs on  Vista home premium. The PC lives in my darkroom at the back of the garage where there is enough of a wifi signal to connect this IPad to the Internet.  We have a cable modem which gives a wifi connection for this IPad and a laptop.

I guess I need a USB dongle for the PC

Can anyone advise what model of dongle to buy and the best place to buy it? I am not very IT savvy so any advice needs to be couched in simple terms please.

Cheers

Jeff

You have a couple of options.

If you fancy fitting a WiFi card to your tower (?) then that would be the better option. It won't take up a USB port and it will be a direct connection running as part of the whole system.

Something like this: http://www.dabs.com/products/tp-link-300mbps-wireless-n-pci-adapter-86TH.html?refs=50060000-4294946784&src=2

If you prefer USB then something like this: http://www.dabs.com/products/d-link-dwa-171-wireless-ac-dual-band-nano-usb-adapter-8VLR.html?refs=4294946753-50060000-53510000&src=2

Double check you have a spare slot - I'd imagine you will - then just go for it. Honestly its dead simple.

Actually, you don't need a spare slot. USB hubs - even powered ones - can be picked up dirt cheap on eBay. I've got a powered USB2 hub that cost me somewhere around £6 or £7 new.
