Early start

Today I targeted Hares, I set out at 5am for a 6am start and upon arriving I was met with half a dozen Hares, all looked promising so I set up. it wasn't long before my first Hare came along, I positioned myself so I was shooting towards the sun with the subject being back lit there was also a little ground mist and dew so I couldn't have asked for more. I was lucky enough for one to get in the right direction just unfortunately it was a little too far away for any good detail but I still fairly happy as it's my first intentional Hare. after about 7am it all went quiet so I left at 12pm but i'll certainly be trying again

The ears seem a bit small for a hare, big rabbit? I'm no expert on hares but those I've seen have much longer ears.

Is a lovely photo though with wonderful light, great reward for going out so early

It's a female brown Hare the ears don't have the black tip as prominent as the buck but the shape of the head, colouration and length of leg and whiskers give it away

I on my mobile, zooming in on the image the head shape is more obvious. The ears still look short though, maybe those near me are freaks! :)

It's because it's still pretty young, hares drop leveretts all year round :)

Fair enough, good to know. I need to get some early morning shoots going. Work is prohibitive mostly though

I know what you mean, I have to book days as annual leave to be able to get out

Frustratingly I am out walking the dogs at 5am but no time to dawdle with the camera really. Hoping for some good weather at the weekend
