  1. You are so right! My problem is I never thought for a moment anyone would want to purchase anything I took. Lol! I have since found out that my daughter was showing a couple of my landscape images which I have had professionaly framed to her clients. At least now I understand why she asked for a copy now. She saw the image in question on my daughters Facebook So right now I have no idea what my future price would be I will maybe tell her that they are normally £40.00 and ask for £30.00 at least for this size of image. I really appreciate all the advice thank you everyone !
  2. The image 24x16 was printed on wide format satin paper, this plus vat and postage came to 17.78 I use DSCL. Thank you for all this information and your thoughts. I don't want to over charge her as she did mention there was another couple of local scene images she might ask for too. Maybe I'll go for 30.00 and see what she thinks.
  3. It really was such a buzz. At first I was so pleased but then the thought of asking for payment set in She insisted that she wants to make full payment ( no idea what that is lol! ) no favours as she knows my daughter etc etc
  4. No just the print and she will frame it herself. It has cost me £18.00 and I have no idea what to ask her for. What about maybe £23.00 would that be ok?
  5. Hi everyone! I can't believe this ! I have received an e mail asking if I would be willing to sell a landscape image of mine. WHAT! Really! I am chuffed but have no idea what I should sell it for. I have sent the image off to be printed and it is a 24x16 and I will now wait and see what the result looks like. Are there any guidelines anywhere to help with what to charge ?
  6. Our nearest Hobby Craft is in the new Range store at Kilmarnock so I will head off there later today just to see what they have. Thank you :)
  7. I learned how to do it at my local camera club - you might find the same if you have a local one. Gosh! Never even thought about the fact I could do my own. Thank you for this idea I love it! can I ask is it the same places mentioned you would purchase these boards to make your own mounts?
  8. Now that's a great idea. Don't have one here but there is one only 40mns away! Thank you I will pop over tomorrow and have a look :)
  9. Yes you are right Chris and thank you. I was hoping to maybe find a place that was a little cheaper than the local frame shop as they can be pricy!
  10. Hi all! Had a couple of my prints framed which I love! Question is my kids want a couple done too so I went to ikea for their frames I had mine done professionally but could not afford to do,theirs. Question is where in the UK would you suggest to purchase a mount cut to size. The ikea frame is great but only comes with one White mount and I would quite like to have a little coloured one below the main one that came with the frame. Cathy :)
  11. Prints arrived back from Loxley and I am so delighted with them I took two to my local framer shop to be mounted and framed! Can't wait to pick them up next week :)
  12. Colin it is set for 300. I am wondering if I sent them one I was trying to reduce in size for Facebook? That top line of Pixel Dimesion looks wrong and I have no idea how it got to be so low lol! Anyway sent them up one image a large file and called to ask them to check.i was told that they looked fine so fingers crossed it comes back ok. Cathy :)
  13. I use photoshop and Lightroom but mostly Photoshop. Thank you for info on banding! I did play with the image as it was a late sunset and was dark so yes I did edit it. I have googled and I think the problem is the top one that said Pix dimension.Mine is only at 78.0mg but the raw file was way up at 74.2Mg so this may have been the problem. I am going to send it with the large file and give them a ring to see if it has worked.lol!
  14. Sorry to have to keep asking everyone but I could do with some advice I sent off two of my sunset pictures to Loxley and they very kindly called to tell me my image is too small not enough DPI and it also has banding ? I am hoping to resend the images but have decided to just do one until i get it right. The size asked for was 18x9 inches. The image i sent has this info in photoshop Pix dimension 78 5400 2525 45.72cm 21.38cm Res-300 They have asked that i send it 300 DPI with 1MG per inch on the longest side. So can you tell mw What is banding? How do i find or make my image 1 MG on the longest side
  15. Colin thank you I will put it under a different thread. This would be for under glass so I will stick with a gloss finish and I hope to find a place to have it printed and maybe framed too. Cathy
  16. Richard thank you. It is such a shame you had to go through all of that but at least you won in the end. I hope I never have to go to this length but what a cheek they had asking you for proof What! I eventually contacted one of the people discussing using my image for a canvas as a gift and she then contacted the others who were also going to have it framed and printed. It has now been removed from their site and from the others and she sent me an apology. I have no way of knowing that they have not already kept a copy but I am happy it has been removed. My lesson from this is Print Size! I also see I have sent up large files on some of my flickr images which is fine for now. In future they will be sent up as advice given smaller files lol! Many thanks to you all Cathy
  17. - fill out the exif info on your camera and if you use Photoshop look at 'file info' and fill out the sections, not perfect but will help more than watermarking
  18. This is good information and I will watch the video. I am so surprised at these people I would never print or want to print someone's image without permission. I am to blame too for not watermarking and for sending my files up too large Off to watch video thank you all Cathy :)
  19. Hi everyone, Need to ask a question about sending images to facebook and Flickr. I received a couple of email from people telling me they loved my sunset images etc and that I should be watermarking them as they have since saw their friends sharing my album on their site with the intent of having prints and even a canvas made from them. I do forget about resizing the image for these places. What size is best to post to FB and what size for Flickr. For now I have removed all of them from facebook and my facebook albums but not Flickr until I know what size I should be making. Also got a message asking me for permission to print my images but I said no. I know when they are online any one can screen copy them etc I just don't want them to be able to go and order a wall canvas or large print without my consent. Any advice would be helpful. Cathy
