The missing thing is exactly what I meant when I said that the right hand element added another dynamic. The, now missing, buoy kept the eye from just heading out to the distance with nothing to stop at. The fact it was diagonal to the left one worked well as the eye traveled down the pier then back to stop at the buoy.

Obviously just my opinion, it's horses for courses and everyone's taste is different.

I feel the same about the right side. Not sure what but something*............

*Looked again and I think it's something to do with the curve at the end of the pier - it's pointing to something that isn't there, so there's a kind of missing tension or something ......................

J/k or not, It's a lovely clean image but I'm with Graham on this - something is missing. I keep looking at that space :blink:

 

Are you sure it's not because there was something there to begin with? I wonder if you'd look at that space if there had never been a buoy in it?
