quintessentially english.  definitely not going to be mistaken for a local scene around my neck of the woods.  great comp., the tight framing works well here.

What stopped you from going 1:1 and including all the window?

 

I love the shot anyway, but just wondered.

I think I saw this shot as a 3:2 ratio with the herbs, bike and part of the frame to give it context as three layers so shot and worked on it that way. I did tighten the framing slightly as I only had a 50mm with me so had limited control when taking the shot. There is part of the window frame just out of shot that wasn't relevant to the image but jarred slightly as it was a strong white horizontal line which caught the eye. You can just see the bottom of it on the right hand upright which I don't like but cropping in tighter without changing the ratio would mean I'd lose the edge of the plant pot on the bottom right which I didn't want to do - I could clone it out but thought that a bit ott.

That's true. But I seem to remember that Beth's first appearance on the Street, was as the 'let down' after Steve MacDonald 'bigged' her up as his fantastic former date, and he must be well past 40!
