Black Pearl

Vintage Snapshots

3 posts in this topic

We spent the day up at Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens seeing the animals and enjoying the sunshine. I did all the usual meerkat/peacock/monkey shots with my Fuji lenses but when we were sitting having a spot of lunch in the cafe I popped my ancient Jupiter 8 lens on the Fuji and fired off a few frames of the boys as they were drawing and relaxing.

These were shot raw but all I have done is resize and output sharpen them - no fiddling - no corrections - no tweaks - nothing.
It is a bit of a quirky lens but it has a lovely rendering characteristic that really lends itself to this type of image...

Worth clicking on them to see the full file:

The Fuji 18-55mm by the way has a completely different look.....its also considerably sharper but I'm not sure that always matters ?

The vintage lens beats the other, hands down.
