Great value, excellent service, good communication (should you wish to ask questions, although it is usually evening before they reply).
I'm sure there is better quality out there but to be honest I can't think of anything better at their prices and I have bought from here 3 times and about send send off another file
If you are not sure on sizes they will email you with a screen shot of how it will look.
If you prefer to contact by email the address is - canvas2print@gmail.com
Thanks for reply but I want blank canvas to print myself.

Thanks to everyone for kind comments.
It was my first visit to the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean and the weather was mixed. A fascinating post industrial area.
Some shots from the visit will be posted in the next couple of weeks.

I went today to look at how my pictures have been hung in a gallery and noticed someone has displayed canvas prints.
I think I would like to print on canvas.
Has anyone any advice, from actual personal knowledge, about a good supplier of canvas for photo printing and frames to mount the canvas ? I have done Google searches but some practical advice would be appreciated.

Hello folks
Advice please.
I have three days to spend as I wish in Coleford, Wye Valley starting next Friday. I have never been to this area.
I propose to spend the time photographing and drawing.
Apart from obvious tourist traps can anyone advise good locations for rural and urban landscape photography?
I assume the trees and/or forest floors will be very colourful so is there anywhere that can be recommended for autumn colour?
Any help will be gratefully received.
We will be spending the previous three days at Morton in Marsh and should get my photo eye into gear at Batsford Arboretum

I agree Colin it would cost a fortune to strengthen the attic for a turbine
Agreed. But the wind blows at night.
I think all new buildings should be super insulated and be strong enough to attach a wind turbine.
And most of us should use less electricity and petrol. Will future generations wonder at our profligate use of fuel such as jetting of on holiday a couple of times a year?
Rant over!

I am surprised to see that wind power is now generating 11% of electricity. We live on a windy island so let's hope the trend continues upwards.
Just a thought. How much electricity does a wind turbine need to generate to replace it's energy costs of making, transporting and erecting it? Same question for building a nuclear power station?

I have an Epson R2000, love it, perfect printing, but it does help to download the paper profile and install them in LR and PS. Epson in Australia will often have great cashback deals .
In the UK Permajet provide bespoke printer/paper profiles free for their papers. Used with a profiled monitor there can be a drastic reduction of wasted ink and paper !!!

It's all a plot by the power generation companies. what the turbines are really doing is making wind by sucking out electricity from the grid.
Or alternatively to suck money from electricity consumers.

I quite like the turbines they look so graceful
So much more natural than ripping out of the ground and burning
Tides and wind the way to go
That would be nice how but how would we cope with reducing electricity consumption by, say, 75%

Stats are from the above web site.
Nerdiish me finds this sort of info. fascinating.

Tonight wind is generating less than 2% of electricity .
Why are we spending so much money and despoiling countryside for such a low percentage ( in fairness In windy weather it can get to 6%) ?
And as an aside why are electric cars described as zero emission when 25-30% of electricity is generated from coal fired power stations and about 50% from gas?

What is the secret behind your forum name?
OK, if you are Phil, and your forum name is Phil, then you don't need to answer, but if it's not.. then share how you came about being called what you are.
So my forum name is Phoenix. If there are any Harry Potter fans out there, you will remember that Dumbledore had a phoenix names Fawkes. Well FAWKES is my surname......
Short for of Jeff from Chorley
When I escape my name will change.

nice collection Jeff, seems that photography as a hobby has as many loners as socialites. Might make for an interesting topic of discussion.
Oh and a birthday next month, ... that's a nice round number
Indeed.
But a good twenty years left in me - both parents made it into their 90s.
My first aim is to be retired longer than I worked which will happen in 2032 when I will be 87.
Then to have a pension greater than my final salary.

I won't touch Epsons again. I had three - all printed well, but all died from the 'blocked ink feed' symptom.
Canon use a different system, so I stick with that now, and so far - touch wood - I'm still on the first one.
The Epson 1800 I used had tone binned because of continual blockages. My Canon 9000 has been faultless.
The difference? The Epson used pigment ink but the Canon uses dye inks and so has no solids to cause blockages. But pigments last longer which is an essential for professionals. Although if you treat dye ink prints on decent paper as you would a watercolour painting there is little to worry about.
Canon also sell pigment ink printers. Just need to check what type of ink is used.

1 Wil have done my three score and ten next month
2 Have tried owning dogs but found I dislike the things. Cats I find tolerable.
3 I like most people but sociability is really difficult. Have no real friends.
4 Would like to move to the Chilterns or Cotswolds from Lancashire but have not got the money to do it.
5 Used to be a Licensed Property Valuer. I like pubs.
6 Started photography with a Kodak Retinette 1A shooting Kodachrome Iso 10 ( ten). Used to dev and print monochrome and colour film. Had numerous nasty cheap cameras from behind the iron curtain but ended up with a really good Bronica MF SLR.
7 Now shoot with Sony DSLR and print on Canon A3+ machine. Equipment is far better at photography than me.
8 Still trying to make OK pictures but have progressed little in the past 57 years. Managed to get LRPS distinction but alas that is my limit.
9 Utterly conventional and been married to same woman for 45 years.
10 Enjoy G&T followed by wine. Marlow Brewey red beer makes me happy.

My PC is not Internet connected and does not have built in wifi. It runs on Vista home premium. The PC lives in my darkroom at the back of the garage where there is enough of a wifi signal to connect this IPad to the Internet. We have a cable modem which gives a wifi connection for this IPad and a laptop.
I guess I need a USB dongle for the PC
Can anyone advise what model of dongle to buy and the best place to buy it? I am not very IT savvy so any advice needs to be couched in simple terms please.
Cheers

If you are GP and you are trying to build/promote your business then (possibly) having FRPS along with BIPP and MPA after your name might help you gain clients and build relationships....might!
Its one of those grey areas where its nice to have, the meetings/lectures can be helpful, being around like minded people is generally useful for networking and if you enter (win) competitions you get a bit of publicity but otherwise its just snobbery for typical camera club types.
Fair enough except the comment about snobbery.

But is it it worth joining in your opinion ?
Depends what you want.
I would suggest you decide how, or if, you want to progress your photography then go through the whole of the rps website to see how membership would be useful.
It is useful to me because I am more interested in making panels or series of pictures around a theme which is what is required for getting the arics distinction, rather than a collection of unrelated camera club type photos to get a PAGB distinction. Also the meetings are often interesting - details on the rps website.
However there seems to be more rps activity in the South of England then here in Lancashire. Maybe the Southerners are ore proactive.
But I get a discounted membership fee because I am old.

Typical of the modern Police Force, using a hammer to crack an egg or harassing car drivers but doing nothing to prevent real crime.
In the photograph, what the betting the bride is the girl an the far left
Paul
Are traffic crimes not real?
Or is breaking the law while driving a fun game?
Can we choose what laws we treat as real and those we ignore?
Just asking :-)

Possabley an alternative to a triperod for weight
Go one thanks and I use it when walking around with my 16-80 lens but I find tripod is much better for use with long lens and all times when out by myself and trying to take decent pictures.

In twenty odd years of working for Jessops I can count on one had - probably even Dave Allen's hand - the number of SLR's I've seen with a failed internal battery. For you to have two digital SLR's fail is frankly beyond me as they're not even old cameras.
Honestly I would email So y support and tell them exactly that and see what they say.
Thanks for reply.
I must be doing something wrong but heaven knows what!
Didn't have this sort of problem with my Mamiya TLR

Printing on canvas
in General Photographic
Posted
Thanks for information.
I need unframed canvas treated for ink jet printing rather than primed for acrylic or oil.
I have three Ranges within 10 miles. I have bought frames from them and found the quality to be poor. I much prefer to get art materials from Ken Bromley at Horwich or mail order from the SAA. The Range is a resource of last resort !
