  1. Cracking photos by everyone this week...I had to keep going backward and forward to re look at them all as they were all so damned good.

However I can only choose one, and the one I have chosen is Colin's portrait from his Bank Holiday Randomness set.

I love both the capture itself  and I think the editing is wonderful, it suits the subject superbly...

  2. I left school aged 15 in 1969, The same year that I first saw the Rolling Stones at the Hyde Park concert. I was an apprentice Butcher for Dewhursts and earned £5.00 a week,

Worked the ashphalt gang from 18 to 21 when I earned £100 a week driving a 16 ton tipper lorry on a car licence, it was classed as 'plant'. Took my HGV class 1 at 21 and the earning shot up, I was doing two Germany trips a week running bent as a nine bob bit.... but earning £500 per week!

    Happy days :)

My husband was at that very same concert, although it would be twenty years or so before we met...I was just going into my teens living round the corner in Notting Hill where I was dragged up............Small small world!

  3. I wasn't born for another 2 years!!!

    my 1st job at 16 was £60 a week, that was 1992

!992.............Dear God....that was a year after I legged it with nothing more than a bin bag full of my meagre possessions from my first marriage....

  4. Lol Martyn.

I remember when putting a fivers worth of petrol in the car made me feel posh.............and my old Leyland Princess ran for a week on a fiver...happy days they were!

  5. I use a couple of nature sites for my local and surrounding area...namely Suffolk. I am seeing more and more people stating Digiscoped, or calling themselves a Digiscoper...............what is all that about?

I have looked it up but I am still muddled and perplexed.

Can anyone explain it in simple terms, as the pictures I have seen of this Digiscope thing look like a U Bend for plumbing to me...I am just not getting it.

They all seem to be bird watchers/photographers that are doing this.

  6. When I left school in 72 and was an apprentice florist in Kensington Church Street London, I used to take home 8.50 per week.....and had to give mum and dad 4.00 per week keep...! When I first moved to cambridge and stared work in a factory I was getting 35.00 per week, and thought I was sooooo rich!

  7. I would release/sell whatever ...tomorrow, if it meant me living life a little better a little longer with a roof over my head....and to hell with anyone who thought there was gonna be something left for them....and if I was put in a paupers grave at the end, so what...It would only mean Brian and me enjoyed our last days...

  8. All I have left from my dad is an empty packet of Red Rizla fag papers.................left in a book he borrowed from me,a week before he died,  a book on the British Isles...and he had left it in one of my most fav places, Sennen, Cornwall....and there it stays. My sisters may all have swooped down like Vultures and got their pickings.............me, I am happy with that Red Rizla packet. That is what my dad left me and I am happy with that....!
