  1. Martyn.....

Unless you win the Lottery this week............and you still want to give mono only a go......just stick your camera on ....MONO ....restrict the ISO to 360 and....Hey Presto!......you have a near copy of that over priced Leica.

I reckon, that it is made for .....Camera Snobs........the person with more money than sense.

I never said a word!        :hope:

  2. I've seen lots of laws and by-laws concerning cemeteries, but "no photography" has never been one of them. Provided you are mindful other visitors and respect their privacy there shouldn't be a problem.

Just remember that graveyards can be hazardous places; the ground is prone to subsidence due to coffins decomposing and collapsing and gravestones and masonry often topple over.

  3. Cheers Paul! I realise it's not a real issue as I know I can shoot at a lower shutter speed as you say. It's just a matter of remembering to do it.

I also have another problem; the sun was setting and the curtains were closed for the evening, my youngest daughter is still in her pyjamas. She's just got dressed and gone out but I will probably meet her tomorrow as she comes in and I go out. The real problem is, why can't I do that any more?

  4. I've been having a bit of a play with the new wireless flash triggers and have found a small issue. I wonder if anyone else has had this experience.

The max shutter/ flash sync speed on my Nikon D5100 is 1/200 sec. But with the wireless system in use there must be a small delay which reduces the sync speed because it appears that the shutter is already beginning to close.  (I think the shutter mechanism travels from the top down, the lens reverses the image so the shutter appears to travel from the bottom up)

For these shots the flash was about 12 ft away to my right and bounced off the ceiling.

  5. I've tried various methods but ended up using a folder for each year. Within those folders are sub folders that are named date/subject  ie, 2015-01-22 Morecambe, that's where I store my raw files from that day. Any edits that I do are stored as JPGs in another sub folder called Exports.

I use Adobe Lightroom as my main editor and filing system, so I can add keywords such as landscape, portrait, clouds, horses etc which makes it very easy to search for images at a later date. It's a very simple system because that's how I need it to be.

  6. At this stage in my photographic game I can't afford a dedicated calibration kit, but I have done the Windows self calibraton test on my monitor. The result was that it wasn't far off the ideal settings. I also use a spare 20" HD tv; I ran the same self test program on that and made some adjustments. In theory, the two monitors running side by side should look pretty much the same; this is not the case. No matter how I try, or the adjustments I make, the colours on the two monitors look different.
