Thanks everybody
Next challenge is now up...
-
The theme for the next weekly challenge is "Alone", and is for you to interpret any way you see fit.
Fuji tells me you may not enter shots of trees, however. *
(* that's a foul lie which I invented on the spur of the moment...)
Open for entries until the end of Friday 13th at which it will be open for voting.

Hi Kenny, Welcome to the forums
I'd vaguely heard of Cosplay but didn't really know what it was until you enlightened us.

Other than hope it gets knocked loose your only option is sending it away - if its under warranty you might get it done for free as it shouldn't really happen but its a grey area where I've seen success and refusals from various brands.
Hopefully they'll clean the sensor while it's away for repair.
-
Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to remove dust from the sensor in a fixed lens camera?

Google is your friend Fuji! The first link may prove the most useful as it's a kind of guide / index to blogs and forums devoted to watercolour.

David995031: Just discovered Neil Gaiman, am reading American Gods. Pretty strange novel. It's a fantasy but not (so far) in a heavy handed Lord of the Rings/Game of Thrones sort of way. Good read.
Excuse the bizarre quote mess - sometimes it goes off course in most unexpected ways!Just wanted to say that if you like American Gods and decide to move on to 'Neverwhere', don't make
the mistake of watching the TV series first; it's horribly miscast, as you would soon see from reading the book.

Really like that third shot. The second I thought was not fully vertical (leaning to the left) until I got out Onde Rulers and found it is - must be a slight optical illusion caused by that leaning pole to the left.

1. It is not possible to zoom with your feet - you can get your subject (roughly) the same size in the frame but everything else changes.
2. When photographers tended to shoot mostly with a 50mm it was on a 35mm system - Kev shoots with a 1.5 crop camera so his field of view will be dramatically different.
1. I think you know what I meant.
2. Ah - didn't realise he wasn't using full format. Yes, that would make a big difference. He'd need a ... 35mm lens?

I have it still to watch this. Being the Napoleonic fan that I am I will be watching this. I read loads about the period, not just the battles, but the politics and people that surrounded Bonaparte are very interesting in their own right. I am now quite a knowledge on this subject. It keeps my brain occupied.
You are?

If you can zoom with your feet Kev (and I know you can), then I'd say go for it. It would be a superb creative challenge, and you'd look back on the pictures you took with just one fixed prime with a particular pride. Remember - when we started out as toggers, we only had one lens to work with and it was usually a 50mm.
-
Currently re-reading "Neverwhere". Not sure if it's for kids, YA, or grown-ups, but it's an awesomely original epic adventure.
-
I'm guessing that you DIDN'T watch Episode 2 of "Time Commanders" then Kev?

Doctor my ears! Great choice K'Meister. Saw JB at Cambridge Folk some years ago.
And a very happy Xmas to all.

Unfortunately, eBay are totally on the side of buyers, not sellers. I would always send Tracked/Signed For so there can't be any dispute. However, best of luck trying to get it resolved, hopefully it isn't someone "trying it on", and it's just Xmas rush.

Thanks Dee. Christmas in the Aussie summer must be the weirdest thing ever. Well, to us Brits...!

Why do I say they are fakes - seriously?
THOSE items you just mentioned are clearly fakes. But I thought you were talking about the lenses in the original video you posted? Those aren't marked Canon, but are obvious copies, marketed under a different name (at half the price, but as the reviewer says "You get what you pay for").

Nope - they're fakes.
Why do you say that? Clearly they've ripped off Canon's design, but they're sold under their own name. If they claimed to be Canon lenses then certainly I'd call them fakes. As it is, I'd call them 'rip off Chinese copies'. And possibly Canon could try and sue for infringement of patents too. But no-one buying them would be under any illusion they were buying a Canon lens, not with the name YuonDong (or whatever it was!) plastered all over them.

Congratulations Colin.
