Fantastic Colin ... Though I can think of safer ways to get my hair dried !
That first image is a corker ... especially as one can't see the mechanism keeping the person attached ...safely ( one presumes !) I imagine there is a huge element of trust involved in this relationship too ! FABULOUS SET ... The first time I have seen something like this on the Forum ... Thanks for that....
Thank you Polly, they were great fun to see, at the end of the display they 'unhooked' themselves and climbed down back into the aircraft which was a little scary to watch

Nice shots, hated the rather 'woke' BBC presentation, wondered what other countries thought

All good, nice to see some prop blur on the chopper too

A nice set although I don't understand the need for the dark vignette? It doesn't really bring anything to the picture and for me spoils the overall look about them (sorry). On the up side the bokeh is

Very nice, thumbs up from me

Lee I like the shot although I'm not over keen on the fake sky as the 'sharpness' distracts from the man in the picture. I think if you blur the sky and crop down to the mans' head giving a panoramic feel to the BW shot it would work better. All in all a good attempt.

Great photos, Colin. I went to my first air show a month or so back with my camera. They’re exhilarating to watch. None of my photos were up to your standard though.
I’ve been learning to use PS layer masks and enjoying them control they give in the siting.I used to find them a right faff, so much improved now that I'm starting to look back through my raw files to see what I can do with them.

I do like the new masking options, although I tend to stick to LR far more the PS, but being able to select a sky or subject with one click and then intersect the mask is very handy and it does a great job.
As for the shots, that first one is SUPERB! The colour is just spot on. Love it.
Hi Matt - I struggle a little editing with LR. I find PS so much easier and you can now select sky or subject as well as various adjustments, even processing RAW is so much better now I seldom bother with LR. And thank you for your kind comment.

I love the first one. The grey skies really give you a foreboding feeling that they're flying into the storm both literally and figuratively.
Me too, thank you for your kind comment.

As we (well some of us) await the new airshow season I thought I would revisit a couple of images from 2019. Using Adobes new(ish) layer masks to help bring out the original sky in each of these shots and balance with the subject. Have to say I'm quite pleased with the end results. if you shoot in raw and use PS give them a go they are very easy to use and very adjustable.

I would try using selective colour to remove to 'yellow/orange' which I'm assuming is from the street lighting, that way it might balance better

What is it made of ? I can't see any means of suspension .... I imagine it must feel a little disconcerting walking underneath it ..
Hi Polly - 7 metres in diameter, features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit.
Its hung in the naive using some cables which are quite thin so I don't think it weighs too much, you can just see them in picture 3 .

Easy Denis - by using a fake sky and badly blending the two images you have lost most of the prop blur and the wire lines on the far Dakota. This makes me question if the whole image is fake.
Personally I think the original image works fine but weather seldom helps out at airshows and there is nothing wrong in adding a little sky detail behind the planes.
But please consider the overall effect, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Denis I think I would prefer to see the original, hate to be critical but they wouldn't fly this close together and the lighting is wrong for the sky you've used.

Another great set of photos from your Emergency Services portfolio !
No Denis - they fitted a stent via my arm, although I do still suffer with my arm if I stretch out.

Thank you so much for choosing my photo for the POTW. And Polly the Wing Walker was actually waving to both myself and a friend who was standing to my righthand side. I know this for certain as we were the only people there! The shot was taken outside of the air show at a point where the aircraft turn to go back to run the crowd line. Thanks again, glad you like it.
