  1. try wix.com - free, mine is on there. i'm sure others will have some more for you to look at or google free web sites etc. you could try facebook or flicker to host your pics, flicker is slow tho until they load up. geoff
  2. no, it has to have a slave function. i got a little one from jessops for £15ish a couple of years ago, works of but not very powereful, okish for indoor still shots. geoff

  6. only one the odd occasion do i go out with specific idea in my head, most of the time it is just a 'i'll see what i end up with' venture. things like slow water shots / sunrise or night time shots of the bridges over the tyne i have a think about as i have to carry the tripod, but like i say most of the time i just have a look when i'm there. one of the harder thing to do is when you go to the same place often, i tend to go to st. mary's lighthouse, it is near and free parking before 8am so sunrise shots with the lighthouse is very popular in my back catalogue, but trying to shoot something a bit different is a challenge, a lot depends on where the tide is, how much cloud is above etc. i have been out and about many times to somewhere new, around 150 mile round trip and come back with 10 photos, other times i pop into a local wood and come back with a full card, thats the life of a photographer i suppose . geoff
  7. i think part of the photographer thingy is that you have to work harder when shooting the same scene over and over again. it is part of the challenge in taking photographs and improving as a photographer. looking for different angles, using different settings, choosing colour or black & white or even the likes of duotone etc for your images. everyone can take a snap shot of something, but a photographer looks at all the options then takes the shot. even looking around the house i reckon there is well over 365 items that can be used as subjects for a series of shots. a flower may have been a subject used but try different sorts of lighting, from candle light to torch to flash or desk lamp, shoot on a bright sunny day in front of the window or on a dull/rainy day outside. use the light source from below, above, behind, in front of, on the right and left to achieve all different and interesting effects. doing 'a shot a day' takes a lot of commitment and thought not only to make it interesting for you but also the viewer that will be looking at the final image, thats why i don't do it. the main point is to have fun while choosing and shooting, if it's not fun then it will soon get boring and become a chore. whatever you decide, good luck. geoff
  8. back again, strangely missed this forum while it's been away on it's holidays. geoff
