I agree with everyone being entitled to an opinion.
I also agree that he is a bit up himself and yes he get's paid far too much by Sony. I also think his photography is brilliant, and the subject of the video is much what I feel.
I do very little editing (sat waiting for the barrage of comments on that bit) I always try and get it right in camera then tweak a little bit. then again IF I had the slightest idea on how to use lightroom I probably would use it for some stuff.
I appreciate it's MY OPINION and I also appreciate BP and Colin's help when I have needed it to rescue files.
but for now I'll stick with tweaking using the software that came with the 1100D

He is funny. Take a look at his images. Straight out of camera? Just makes use of Lightroom? Hmmmm, perhaps some but others? I think not. Some good images though.
Whitby looks good in the video.
I'd love to meet him and watch what he does with his editing... I'm sure linked to his lightroom is a HDR button? other than that he is really good..

I need help. canon 70D with the 70-200 F4 I need to keep the motion in the wheels and background so shutter speed less than 200th, preferably down to 80th. iso at 100 but seems to be too bright even when shooting all the way to F10 and F11.
if I use a ND filter for fast photograpjhy like this is the focusing still going to be as quick? I am learning to use back button focusing but it is taking some getting used too.
suggestions please

When you know your subject and you know what you're doing better gear can make the difference - can't wait to see your results.
if I'm a little big headed.... to get the results I have in the past I must have a little idea

today my used Canon 70D arrived via courier, I used Mbp Photographic, I know someone who has used them before, all the gear they sell is tested and listed honestly, I simply could not afford to buy a brand new camera, the one I chose was listed as in "good" condition, it's obviously not brand new but it is in very good condition, the only signs of use are on the pull out screen, someone must have had long finger nails. sadly it came without a charger, the battery only had a little charge in so I don't have any shots to post up yet, they are sending a charger out tomorrow and they were very apologetic. really pleased with the service.
as for the camera... WOW, what a difference I put my 70-200 F4L on and the focus speed (once I realised back button focus was turned on) is unbelievable, and the 7FPS is incredible. the 1000D and 1100D always served me well and I had no complaints, till now when I realise how many shots I could of taken at the right time with no effort. I will not become a lazy spray and pray photographer, I'll just get better shots using the equipment I now have, we all know it's not the camera that takes the shot. perhaps having a slow camera (3FPS) trained me well to anticipate the shot? I can't wait to see what I capture on Sunday!
I also splashed out on Liability insurance for the year so I could get my media pass back at Harewood.
stand by to be bored with all my Motorsport shots again.

They will see you as a person who takes photos, may wonder as to the point of any pictures as they may only be interested in 'family' type portraits, probably fear what/where/how said photos will be used and not having any control over images they may dislike appearing 'all over the internet'.
And you may find the same response from many male friends.
I had thought of that Colin, one of the ladies spends her life posting selfies on Facebook/instagram?? come to think of it they both do, the wife doesnt but I'm careful where I post pictures of SWMBO as she's mine

There's your problem right there. If they feel you're assessing them as a man rather than as a photographer, they could well decide not to play.
the 2who are not my wife? I have explained from a photographers point of view...

I have a beautiful wife who has halved her body size and weight in a little over a year, from size 18/20 to a size 10/12 in 15 months, I have a very very pretty friend called Zoe who is easily model material (even though she is only 5'2" tall) and another friend who is also very beautiful with bright red hair (like rihanna's)
I have asked all 3 ladies to let me take some portraits, all 3 say they do not feel confident enough to let me..
the mind boggles!! if they could step into a mans shoes and see what we see as a man and a photographer...

Im dare you too Fuji!
and yes I do agree, if it was not London fashion week with people trying to get noticed it would be a lot more dificult.
now I'm almost a professional sales person (my trail period ends at the end of March) I am learning to find ways for people to interact with me straight away, otherwise I will not succeed.... a trip to Manchester on my todd is on the cards

this Photographer makes street portraits look so easy, I wish I could have that rapport with people immediately!

im here... again, I have hardly touched my camera this year, but.... I have been invited along to a local ORGANISED 4x4 meet... Mudplug or whatever you want to call it.
at the minute my priority is getting My eldest Megan upto the stables so she can spend time with her friends and the Horses (Huddersfield)
the drifting has got a little mundane, plus I don't fit into the Clique... so my new things are Horses and mud plugging, just trying to find somewhere to go in or around Huddersfield if anyone knows any barmy mud slingers? (I don't want to be involved in Illegal wreck the world and not care brigade)
how many are from Huddersfield... I can possibly have a ride nearby to meet up with fellow members?

I forgot to mention that wives / husbands / partners / children / dogs / cats / rabbits and ponies are most welcome.
Perhaps someone can persuade BP to bring along Jasper!

Well done Leon, I often look through the window at Cash Converters in Lincoln - otherwise known as, by my wife, the 'smelly shop'. You do see various bits of photography gear just not sure if I would take the risk. Do you get any sort of guarantee?
6 kmonth guarantee.... not sure if the smallprint would make any claim easy?

not sure.... maybe a 2nd hand 60/70D depends what I can afford. I have a VERY good chance of a promotion of work soon so I should have some wonga in time for my 40th in MAY (does that mean im officially old enough to be a photographer?)
