  1. 2017.... one of the most bizarre years of my working life, changed jobs in February, then again in May, then again an August where I was promised the earth, big bonuses etc... without warning I was sacked on 1st November, the first time in my life I was facing the prospects of not having anything to look forward to at xmas!  then a bit of good luck, handed out many CV's and went for every interview I could, then on 1st December I was offered 2 jobs in 1 day.  thankfully!

So for me I am glad to see the back of 2017!!!

have a great new year everyone :)

  2. My Daughter Amber is doing Photography at high school, she wanted her own camera to use so my brother very kindly gave her his old Fuji HS10.

now when I started out I had a Fuji S1500, then a Panasonic FZ45 so I am no gear snob. I find it really poor quality, the focus is slow, the time it takes to actually take a picture seems like forever! The quality of the pictures are also very poor.

have I just spent too long with my 70D and quality glass?

crazy thing is I always wanted a HS10 when they were new but couldn't afford one!

  3. This has been running thrugh my head for the past week or so.

one of my friends I knew from school's daughter came home safe, My youngest daughter goes to school with one of the young girls that is still in a coma, so is her dad.

the poem I heard on the radio, I have also heard of many people doing things to help on the night and after, a fellow photographer who is also a Police man heard of all the families at the kids hospital who needed help with food because they did not want to leave the wards.. He approached a local Morrisons and they literally cleared the fridges of all the sandwiches and drinks!!

nothing we can do about the sorry state of affairs  unfortunately(don't want to start a debate on here)

...Fuji, I have been to gig's there a few times with friends and with my misses and daughter, it is very noisy and crowded but the atmosphere is electric!!

  4. this one is especially for FUJI.

a friend of mine (the same person I went for a day out with at 4am a few months ago) was bored, so he drove from Bolton to Llanberis. a 2 hour drive hoping theconditions were good to shoot a LONE TREE!!

he was in luck as his shot is stunning... shame it was not on a Yorkshire moor :p

  5. I love my 70-200 F4, but it just does not have the range.

I cant justify £500-1000 on a piece of glass.  I could hide a £200 purchase from the SWMBO what would you get?

these are just examples I dont mean these actual ones... Robin has told me I should go for the 1.4x as I keep AF.

the latter would give me more reach on a 70D I think?

Well done Leon........but you take care.....Jumpin' ..... in the woods at your age.....??

I'm always careful. my last bike was a downhill bike, the first time I ever wore a helmet I managed to smash it on the first outing!!  a broken limb sticking out from a tree was the culprit.

  7. Hi Guys.

happy new year to you all!!

i have gone out and bought myself a 2nd hand Mountain bike!!  I gave up when I started photography, 6 years later I'm getting fatter and more unfit (the sales rep job isn't helping)

so the camera will be used even less than it is now, I was going to sell it and buy a new compact but Laura bought me a new tripod for xmas, she really doesn't want me to pack in.

I will obviously have my phone with me so I can take snaps wherever I go so I will always have pictures... I have a friend who wants to take some pictures of me and my friend doing jumps in the woods, when they are done I'll post them for you all to see.

so I'll post hen I can... have fun guys.
