A little too much sky for me, the image is trying to break into two images, the mood in the sky, then the island,
For me just the Milky sea on the island is enough :-)
-
First Image is Stunning mate, a little shame that the shadow just hits the main, but what a shot, awesome !!
-
I hate flash most of the time, hence the timed exposure idea, I ( on Here I Think ) have an image where I just used a timed exposure on a busy bridge in London, a mate had to stand still for about a minute, sounds easy lol, but not.. It turned out so cool, hence the idea, long exposure with everyone in High Vis, could be cool
-
A little fill flash would help sometimes, even the pop up on the camera ( If it has one lol )
Also take a tripod and do some timed long exposure where the engines are still but people give motion blur, a great effect to show movement in the images
-
For me, the Second and Third stand out, I love heritage lines, live in a village with one, the issue is the public, as in first image, someone not in dress really shows that its a new image
The sky has not helped in the images, and I for one struggle with B&W conversions, too sharp, not sharp enough, and contrast issues,
But admire your time togging the great Steam Engines, I just love them

Gotta love Autumn, It just adds to every shot when the tree's show Autumn colours
One thing that grabs the eye, and not in a good way, is the Red Alarm box, as otherwise the image is dateless
Glad you got some time togging mate

Shooting Astro any sensor gets hot on long exposure, but in out climate being fkin cold, the noise level is ok, Im new to the astro game, but take lots of images with bright dark etc to get the noise and then use stacking software, 5d Mkii 21 Meg Pixel, they say 20 is the threshold for astro, and really at its price, £200 for full frame its a great camera
-
I went Full Frame in December, only the EOS 5D Mkii, but 21 Meg Pixel, I shoot all Canon L glass, so giving the sensor some good light, as always the Camera only records the image we give it, have not had a chance to get out much to see if full frame on the lenses suffers in any form.
I don't know what glass you use, but 5D mkii is only a couple of hundred quid, good glass I would spend the money on

Thanks to everyone, been hard getting my mojo back, and blowing the dust off the gear, and going through some images taken in the past, then actually having others like them, does give a warm feeling, and shows others do appreciate what I ( we ) see through the viewfinder.
Im still amazed that I even came in the race, as images posted on here are just amazing, so many thanks again

Wow thank you

Been waiting for far too long for an Order of Ilford FP4, it arrived today
Unfortunately my mode select wheel on my EOS 5 is still a bit hit and miss, booked in for repair Mid Jan
Hope to get some snow at least before then to take her out

Its been cloudy and overcast all for the past few weeks, as wanted to get some images too,
Having a place also in Norfolk on the coast, I think this is where it will get most use, as less light saturation from towns and villages etc
Will post some results of my journey into learning more about it

Hi Gang
Well have been looking at getting into Astrophotography for some time, and found that a good friend also has the same interests, so just ordered a Star Tracker for the Tripod to get the exposure time up and keep the stars sharp,
Will hopefully get some clear evenings after it turns up.

I had 2 CF cards fail recently, probably as I remove them and replace on every shoot, so the wifi and ShutterSnitch will at least safe a Jpeg for me
-
Like that only the Jpegs can be sent, so in the studio everyone can see the image as soon as its taken
-
Ipad also has the app, the issue with the app is it won't recognise a camera with the WFT added, or even with a wifi card, as they are specific to the Canon Camera's with inbuilt wifi

Its just for I phones and the like Steve, no good to us android users
Yes unfortunately its IOS based, but second hand iPads are pretty cheap now, my dated iPad mini works well on the app, which is surprising as its useless now for anything else :-)
-
Ok as mentioned in another post, got hold of the WFT E5B ( Wireless File Transfer ), for my Canon 7D, and downloaded an App called ShutterSnitch, for the iPad & iPhone, as it allows the transfer of files over wifi network.
Have the Camera set to take RAW & Jpegs, and only the Jpegs go across as you take the image, its great to see composition on something bigger than the camera screen.
Also just found an old Mobile Wifi that I cancelled years ago, but works great as an access point so when im out and about, can still use the iPad to see images as I take them.
It also allows SD wifi to connect to it, so will try my 5D Mkii with a wifi SD and CF converter to see how that goes as well.
I can highly recommend the software, its great, only a few quid a month too,
Has anyone else given it a go ??
