  1. I hate a post with a "0"

Im not really into Video either, BUT having the camera I would have shot around 100 images as the stunning Train Pulls in, as the sky lent to softness, and well... Just the Rolling Stock in View !!

We have a Heritage line in our village, I have spent many days there togging, as we have two Bridges where we walk that cross the railway, so im lugging a backpack every time

  2. I can't agree more, the Pro's just have better equipment, but to just have a mediocre print of an image around the house lends to me, I have a good mate that runs Point 101, and just got some stunning canvasses again from him, so the really serious shots that I have taken we get on Canvas, hence the other thread I started, as im finally starting to like my images, and the brain has grown to see what I want, I felt in my competition days I was trying to get images outside my Comfort zone, and of course Skill set

  3. Ok maybe just as I’m in B&W mode but telling a better story, again just MHO, but the right of the image is a little plain, I would Crop to the line where it changes in Pic Right and Top, as again the tunnel is very central, could read better,

May go up to my Main Machine and have a go to see if it works ??

  4. Wow, a hot topic lol, I used to spend around £10 per A3 print in my competition days, and had to spend hours in Calibration of the Screen ( Spyder Pro ) and then send RGB info to the Printer, as printing from home was just not a reality for the quality the Labs gave..

So now, yes inks are still amazingly costly, and in no way would I sell a print from home, but these inks are now lasting 30+ years, and the Papers have improved so they don’t fade as much in the sunlight,

OK so for me… Would I use the Printer to get a great A3 Print, Yes, would I then use that same image and get it on a canvas / or Larger Print, Oh yes.. do the costs worry me.. with that I’m in 2 minds..

As if I did not have the Printer, I cant then print the image for just an A3 Photo frame, so cant see the image in real life, so cant critique myself to get what I want from the Print, so would then leave the file on the PC for another day..

Would I then send it away to be put on a Canvas, then No as would feel that the RGB data could be off

With all Photography its about the kit your using, and with Digital the Printer has to be part of the Kit..

Anyway again thanks for the replies, made such a good read

  5. As I posted on the Chat, took the plunge with a new Canon Pro 200 A3 Printer, and it arrived today, and what a beast..

Took a while to set up, align the heads, and then the fun trying to use it with a Mac, but after some Google searches, all sorted, and its print quality is just stunning

Should have got one years ago, but then I guess the Technology and Inks have come a long way since then,

I can Highly recommend the Printer, its just awesome

  6. Again the composition, we read from Left To Right, its spot on, this is a well thought about image, really we should all think about what we see through the lens, this has division from top and bottom, the capture in the hairs shows amazing skills, its bold enough but gives the eye what it needs, for me its just stunning

    • Thanks 1

I wasn't keen on the building either but I wanted to keep the steps going up the headland and this was the best crop I found to fit them in.  There's also a cafe and a car down there that I had to work around. 😉

Oh no, I think you should go back and spend more time there, and send me an invite too lol

Well more power to your elbow Steve ...

As you said ... we all have opinions and there is always room on this forum  to say why  you like or don't like  something without  being offensive  or rude  and  it is quite rare for that to happen though  it has on   isolated occasions in the past.  So thanks for your contribution  to this thread .....it certainly stimulated  a discussion  though not too many others dipped their toe in the water .... which is a shame  but it's a start . Feedback  helps us all  and we learn and get to know  our members on a much more personal basis .... Thank God we are all different or that would make  for a very dull   exhibition of photos wouldn't it 😉

    Indeed, I cant agree more,

This is the main reason I left competitions, as to have a winning image just brushed away by a guest Judge, with no critique on composure, exposure, etc, made my blood boil, its also why in the busy days of Forums I was actually Banned for offering good advice/opinion to threads..

As long as its constructive, Honest, and offers something to the Poster to think about, maybe not alter.. then for me its a winner

  9. This is the great thing about Photography and sharing the images that we are seeing through our lenses that keep us togging, and with every image, as I learned very well in my competition days, that they wont appeal to us all at this path of our Journey,

Im pleased myself to have all opinions on anything I work on and show, rather than just a brushed “Nice”, and I think thats where we on TIPF have become a close family of likeminded nutters, erm Toggers that actually look at images closely and try to lend even the slightest creative comments to help us all grow..

I for one have to work on some more images tonight from our recent holiday, as gotta have a go at getting Pic of The Week for sure
