A image of Lord Korkington dressed as either Ivy Boulton (that was), Nora Batty or Pearl Sibshaw singing hey sexy lady would take weeks of therapy to reach acceptance
If anyone has an image of this occasion dont post burn

Hi there 30 posts needed before edit available, your well on the way
Shooting people down is something we are not very good at on here, we tend to point out other ways rather than be rude, unlike some forums with experts on them
Dont worry too much about spelling we have some great translators on here (although if it makes the sentence humorous expect a friendly jibe)

Enjoyed looking at something quite different from what we get to see Fuzzy - that is one impressive wall in the last one. Thanks for the extra info on the pictures, interesting!
After a bit more research the wall was the original boundary wall of the docks, at least most of it. In 1982 they added some more to it from another wall from somewhere else. Why??????

Pictures make a story, and I do like reading about the things that many of us dont get to see !
Great stuff, doubt if the old ferry will ever be restored, such plans were mooted for HMS Illustrious... and she ended up being sold for scrap.
It has been on the register for historic ships since march 2015 and the word was they were sending down divers to ascertain the condition of the hull before attempting to pump out the tees but as they say good intentions cost a lot of money

People from middlesbrough

Watching Rogue One was the object of traveling to Middlesbrough this Crimmy It was a mid day showing so we were stuck with something to do after Obviously a walk over the transporter bridge was in order
I am always fascinated with the question why
The image below shows a passenger ship low in the water moored up to wasteland , why does it look out of placeThe answer is
It was originally a roll on roll off ferry built in the 60's the Tss Dover later renamed the Earl Siward then Sol Express and finally Tuxedo Royale a posh floating night club moored where it is now Unfortunatly the owners went broke in 2006 and the unruly section of the smoggies moved in, stole all the brass fittings and scuppered the ship by opening all the bilge valves
There is a move afoot to refloat and use it as a training center for engineers, once the £14 million is found to fund itMy attention then turned to the desolate waste land that had been flattened what was it. There was a weird clock tower on it and nowt much else
In the background is the football stadium. The two black rings I will come to later
The answer
This was the third and last entrance to the huge docklands east of the transporter Every time the docks grew the clock tower was demolished and rebuilt further out
In 1829 a Quaker bought land to build a coal port, the population was 40
In 1830 the railway made it to Middlesbrough and by 1851 the population had reached 7,600
Iron ore was found in the clevlands and the town swelled by 1860 to 20,000 and the turn of the century it had reached 90,000 on the back of coal and steelSuch was the speed of progress its easy to see why the docks kept expanding. The weird shaped clock tower is a Victorian function and design building. The lower square section being a hydraulic accumulator used to open and close the lock gates The clock was an obvious thing to stick on the top to let the workers know if they were going to be late or not
here is another image showing a victorian part of a building left standing why I dont know but it just adds to the dereliction of the area, maybe it can be incorporated in some development in the future (the population of Middlebrough today is 150,000)Now for the black rings that look like ears behind the clock tower
They are a modern art work by Anish Kapoor called Temenus a huge butterfly nethttps://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2010/jun/10/anish-kapoor-sculpture-net-butterfly
The cost of the water accumulator was around £850 and the clock tower a further £180 the Temenus was £2.5 million
Its to be hoped they do something with the land because at the moment it is very bleak
Interesting clip from the opening of the transporter Watch the man at 0.13 sec
He is believed to be Erasmus Darwin great grandson of Charleshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjsMgjueumU
And why are they called smoggies its a corruption of an insult by opposing football teams, that has seemingly changed to a collective endearment
It is a corruption of stink monsters, referring to the smell from the iron furnaces

1. It is not possible to zoom with your feet - you can get your subject (roughly) the same size in the frame but everything else changes.
2. When photographers tended to shoot mostly with a 50mm it was on a 35mm system - Kev shoots with a 1.5 crop camera so his field of view will be dramatically different.
This is a confusing subject
Here is a snippet from an article, which should leave you confused

You can not “zoom with your feet”, because if you change your position, your perspective changes.
With a zoom, the perspective does not change – you are merely enlarging the image. This distinction becomes an important point. If you put a 100mm lens on a full-frame body, and a 100mm lens on a crop body, and you want the same size for your subject in the frame, then you are going to have to move much further back to get the same image size with the crop sensor camera. And then your perspective has changed. And yes, then it will give you the same perspective as a 150mm / 160mm lens on a full-frame body when shooting at that new further distance. - Full article

I used to wander with an 85mm lens only it meant a lot of zooming with the feet
I now tend to shoot around the 23 mark on the 16-55 zoom lens To be honest the zoom is wasted on me
You soon get to find the limits and adapt- 1

Zenith B first camera lead me into this game manual and solid probably learnt 90% of what little I know now from this camera and its excellent book that came with it
This is probably why I like my Fuji x-t10 for all the reasons BP gives and rue the fact I went for the 16-55 lens (although I love the 16 end) as it has no aperture ring so I have to rely on the screen
