Wow. Thanks for your reply James. I have to think about it and I get back to you!

Yea, I just reduced the size a tiny bit. Camerapedia says:
http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Bettax
The only thing what I couldn’t get is if there’s 12 exposures in the negative then how I can only take 8? Where do the rest go?

Hello Laci,
120 film actually has three rows of numbers, appropriate for 12 (6x6), 8 (6x9) and 16 (6x4.5) exposures per roll. So assuming that there is only one window on your camera all you need do is wind on to number 1, then advance 1 frame at a time and after frame 8 you will get to the end of the film.
If the camera has multiple windows, let me know and I'll indicate which one is appropriate
Hi James,
Thanks for your quick response! The camera has two windows. I tried to attach a picture but it did not let me to do it but I haven’t used up my space. So the windows are on the same level right under the framefinder.

Okay, thanks!

Okay, I’ve found it.

Hiya Laci, I've moved your topic Equipment and Settings Advice as this was more appropriate than the Welcome Centre. JamesT is our resident film guru and he has much more knowledge about this... I've only every used a 35mm film camera (Pentax K1000 and my own Canon 300) or a medium format film - and that was only the once.
Thanks. Sorry I also felt that this topic is in an inappropriate place but I still haven’t used to the site though I’m on it.

Hi all,
I’ve a folding camera and the manual says it only takes 8 pictures. I’m wondering how to load the film then? Should I turn it till number five and spoil first four or should I start from one and spoil the last four and how will I take it out then to avoid any light to destroy the film? If I can turn it till the very last than why it only takes just eight (though I haven’t tried it yet)?

Welcome. Good to see another film user here.
Thanks James. Yea, I’ve just been on a darkroom workshop about developing negatives and making prints. Was awesome, I’ve enjoyed every second of it.
I attach my first print ever.
I’m wondering if you have any idea from where could I get a rangefinder for a folding camera? I’ve checked ebay and gumtree but couldn’t find any. Other option I’m thinking of to make one myself. I found viewfinder forum so I also will post this to there but more people see this more idea could come up.

I had a Nikon FE back in the day - a lovely piece of kit that gave me much pleasure. I'd never go back to using film, though, I just love digital photography with all all its magic.
Welcome to the forum BTW - dive in and enjoy.

Thanks Korky!

A warm welcome Laci to our forum .... As you are into film cameras I suggest you keep an eye open for JamesT, a member who is pretty passionate about old analogue cameras... If you didn't get a manual with your camera it might be worth looking at this link which has a PDF FILE that may be of some help
http://www.cameramanuals.org/nikon_pdf/nikon_fe.pdf
.. Look forward to seeing you joining in on the forum... yell if you need any help ... ...
Thank you very much indeed! I really appreciate your reply! Will get to JamesT as I have a folding camera as well and have questions about it.

Hi all,
I’m quite new to film photography. I’ve just got a Nikon FE with 50mm 1.8 pancake lens and I’m really enjoying them. Both are mint conditions; beauties.
But I’ve a question immediately. Everything works fine on the camera but when I adjust the EV compensation ring and twisting it to minus to meter lever goes up and the same is true of course when it is on plus the lever goes down. I thought that it should be just the other way around, so when the ring goes to minus the lever also should because it needs more light or the light is way too much. I haven’t checked any of the pictures yet and I’m wondering if any of you met the same thing or should it be like that though is totaly illogical. For me now it seems like if the comp ring goes to minus it decreases darkness and if it’s in plus it adds darkness. Let’s say I’d like to shoot the speed of 250 and the meter lever is below of it. If I turn the comp ring to minus it goes towards 250 but if I turn it to plus it goes further to lower speeds. I thought that if I turn it to plus the lever should go upper because I added more light sensitivity so I can use higher speed and if I turn it to minus the lever should go down because it not as light sensitive so I’ve to balance it with slower shutter speed.

How to adjust contrast on enlargers?
in Equipment and Settings Advice
Posted
Hi everyone,
I’m pretty new to enlargers and the whole darkroom; I’ve been only used them twice. I was quite delighted today as I’m just about to set up my own darkroom and at the local folk house there were a Durst M601 and a Paterson PCS 2500 enlarger to take away for free. As they’re there for a few days they told me I can take both as they’ll get rid of them anyway. So I took them.
They’re all fine just need a but of cleaning but I’m wondering how to adjust the contrast? I only used colour LPL on those two sessions and it was obvious but here I can’t find the knobs and I’m thinking what should be the method?
Polycontrast filters or experimenting with the f-number of the lens?
Thanks for reading!
