  1. Similar with my Tamron SP 70-300.

My Sony Alpha 580 and 290 now need the date resetting when switched on because the secondary batteries controlling that function have failed.

Seems photo equipment is just another electronic consumable. It is very annoying when compared to how long film camera equipment lasted.

I fear I do not have the state of mind to say "never mind".

    Cheers

    Jeff

Ah Jeff , the never mind does mean I can justify buying the new lens :) and the old one served me well, it has been used practically every day for the last 20 months, out in all weathers, humped & bumped everywhere, never been in a camera bag. I'm now using a 20yr old Tamron 28-200 that I had with my old eos100 which is making me appreciate how good the 18-270 was. I think I will take more care of the new one

  2. I have a Canon fit Sigma 70-300 going cheap...

Thanks Leon, I have  a most needs covered that will do me for now but I will wait until I can get the 16-300, It's a lens I can use 99.9% of the time. I'm a lazy photographer and hate carrying a lot of clobber.

  3. Just received an estimate to fix my most favorite lens, Tamron 18 -270(older version)........ £239 it only cost £300 new.

So I will just save the £239 and put it towards the 16-300 Tamron I have been lusting after. One problem...will have to wait until November when a modest pension pot will open up

    Never Mind..................:(

  4. Dee........I came back to your story, and blubbed again.

It's such a sad, yet happy story. So moving. You was obviously dearly loved by your adoptive family, and now you have your newly found family you are much loved all over again.

Your birth mum was beautiful, she must have wondered and thought about you everyday for the rest of her life.

Thank you for sharing this Dee...even if it has made me cry!

Like Annie I came back after all the same emotions, Very sad but a wonderful ending
