  1. I was just going to add that laptops aren't the best for image processing as you need a really good monitor and graphics.

I use my laptop as  a 'lazy' backup - when I'm downstairs in the living room watching tele, etc. All my photo files and up to date software are in my workroom on my desktop. Have external drives for back up!

Thanks Judy, I love my photography but it is just a hobby for me, although I now do back everything up on an external drive , I spend about one week in four at our caravan and just like to run any images through LR on a daily basis or knock up a bit of video for friends or maybe just upload a few to FB. (Much better than watching daytime TV when the weather is foul :) ).  I shoot RAW so nothing is lost and can always refine things when I get home.

A big plus for "Himself" he wont have to wait for my seat to trawl Ebay when we are at home  :)

  2. Thanks Tina, at the moment anything has to be better than my old one. I have come home with about 300 images and even my desktop is groaning a bit :)  Looking at the spec the power seems to be there but not sure about the resolution 1600 x 900   :hope:

  3. :wallbash:  :wallbash:  :wallbash: After another week of tearing my hair out fighting my almost deceased lappy. A new laptop is now on my hit list.

I need help and advice choosing, Top budget £400, not bothered about bells & whistles, just something that will handle Lightroom & Elements with speed & alacrity. At the moment this is catching my eye

But I don't have a clue and if I can save a bit of dosh, all the better ;)

    Thanks in advance :)

  4. Well I finally got to take a few piccies
Just back from a week at Cummertrees nr Annan by the Solway Firth. Needless to say we didn't pick the best of weather. The winds the first night were a bit scary but a lot better when we turned the nose of the 'van into the prevailing wind. I think Thursday the worst , took both of us to open the door against the wind. Most of these were taken not far from the van LOL!

  5. Just about to ask for help but chuffed I managed it on my own. I use topaz labs in PE but now seldom use PE except for layering  and knew I could access it straight from LR but just couldn't get it to load. I have discovered that I needed Topaz Fusion which I duly downloaded, EUREEKA!

Bu'.##r..... still wouldn't work so uninstalled it all and started again BINGO!!!

Now wondering what to do with the rest of the day ;)
