Thanks for commenting, I tried to upload the JPG files straight from the camera but the site software said the files were too big to upload. I reduced them with iPhoto and they came out the size on this thread (the first four). I will try to upload another one, using a larger size. This boat pic is the next size up, coilnp, this looks the right size doesn't it? Please be kind enough to let me know if it is in fact, the right, size.

If you are using iPhoto, you have a Mac, right? I tend not to Export using iPhoto, but drag/copy the picture onto the desktop and then open with Preview. Here you can use Tools/Size to set the exact dimensions in pixels - e.g. 1024 - which will usually guarantee the picture will be below the 500k limit. After you've uploaded it here, you can then delete it from the desktop. I find that much easier than using iPhoto's rather opaque and fussy way of exporting.
