anyone ever had a go at timelapse?

 

here's my 2nd go at it, very very short but you get the idea, sat with the tripod in the car and the window open, just around 0 degrees so hence the length of the video, there are about 60 pictures here, may wait till summer

Tried a few with the iPhone and did try some with the Nikon D300s but I need a power supply to get a real good length of time compressed as the batteries won't last more than about four hours in TL mode.

I started trying to do time lapse with a stills camera, but when I thought about all those shutter actuations I thought I was going about it the wrong way. I switched to using a video camera but had a lot of problems with vibrations and file size. I ended up using my old Blackberry Bold smartphone mounted on the centre headrest in my van and using Windoze moovy maker to edit the results. Here's one of my shorter films, there are longer ones on my Youtube channel for those of you who have nothing better to do

Love the "Chair" video by Black Pearl. It shows the varying colours of natural light as the day goes on, a great illustration of why white balance is so important in photography!

Nice, Martyn  Not so much 'timelapse' as 'speeded up' video, like that famous London to Brighton railway sequence.

I wanted to run the chair time lapse through 24 hours but never got a mains unit for the camera.

Going to try something similar with my old iPhone as I can leave it plugged in for days if needed.

I have  Nikon D3200 camera and a tiny cordless Nikon remote release, but does this one here have something that can time the interval between shots or do you have to time it yourself?

set it to take a picture an intervals of your choice, then set the camera for the length of exposure you need..

That sounds good. I will maybe treat myself to one for a Nikon before my holidays later in the year. Depending on funds that is.

How do you join all the stills together into a movie?

I just use windows maker, det the time at 0.6 seconds and just experiment till it looks right, there are other programmes available

Derek - install TimeLapse on your iPhone. Amazing app and does all the work for you but gives loads of control.
