Thanks for all the help & suggestions guys & ladies! I now think I have got the general idea how to post images on this forum. Hope to post a few images of my photographic outing trip to London. Sometime Sunday morning I will be resizing the images in Lightroom 5 & then post in the Open Image forum. Please bear in mind this was my very first effort with the new Canon camera & lenses so any good or bad opinions on the images will be very welcome! So pleased I joined this forum as the help & suggestions I have received are outstanding. So take a look in the Open Image forum later Sunday morning & once again many thanks to all!

Hi again,

Just posted four images in the Open Image forum. Please do comment on what you think as good comments & bad comments are very welcome simply because I want to learn as much as possible.

Hi

There are three things to do to reduce the size of your images, via any decent image editor:

1. Reduce the picture's display resolution to around 90 ppi

2. Reduce the picture's absolute size so the longest side is 1024 pixels (or even smaller)

3. Save it as a JPEG (copy) at around medium quality - e.g. 7/12 on the Photoshop scale.

Your picture should easily fit into 300 kb after that.

Many thanks but think I have now sorted the resizing issue out via Lightroom 5 export feature. I have now managed to upload four images in the Open Image forum.

That's ok - it's my standard spiel on any forum where there's a restriction in the maximum fiile size you can upload.
