I thought I would have a tinker about in Photoshop with one of my Lancaster photos from  last week

 

I'm sure it is not historically correct but I think it looks ok?

 

Although I could do with a better picture title suggestion or two.

Very well done! Would it go even better if the sky was darker and the spotlights brighter?

 

All my captions are vain attempts to come up with something snappy that includes "spot metering" "flash" "burst mode" and "how many shots will this fire?", but nothing's coming!

 Cheers Chris - I do have a darker version which I just couldn't make my mind up about, and if you brighten the spot lights much more it does look a little faked (which it is)

the angle of the trailing smoke from the bg lanc seems wrong to me and looks a bit odd. maybe a bit of perspective skewing might help it.

 

another nice touch would be to change the nose art on the others so it isn't obviously the same aircraft.

 

not really my cup of tea in general - but you have done an excellent job with it!
