POTW - Week ending 16/09/2018
Well, the first half of the week started very quite, but then we had a bit of a splurge...

There's been some good landscapes and Urban images, some great bird shots from Roger and Cheryl, some interesting street art and street photography, but the standout image for this week is from Bill and his Lone Tree

POTW ... w/e 9th September 2018
Some  interesting images to choose from this week and a number of contenders made the choice difficult  with Fuji's  capture of Ol Blue Eyes  in the car showing how alert you have to be, to be a good street  photographer; Rye never fails to produce stunning  images of  the same scene over and over again with  the everchanging skies above Pendle Hill; J HPhoto  seems to have morphed into a liliputian sized photographer to get so close to that hungry Vole and Johntwo started the week with a vintage looking pic from Martha's cove and ended with another cracker of a pic of the Marine Bridge   but the  the  Pic that sticks in my mind and I keep going back to is  one from the  Project 52 chief, Korky,  of  Der Musiker. I love the treatment Korks  gives to his  photos and the life he  seems to instill in them ...It's a memorable image  ... I can hear that accordion playing ... I can even smell the lederhosen too. Well done on a super pic Korks.

Old or new photos are OK and they must be submitted by close of play next Friday (31st August). We'll then have a vote to determine the winner.

POTW - w/e 26/8/2018
Another nice week of images to look through, nice to see more of the Flying Scotsman from Ryewolf, a really nice shot of a fly on Coriander flower by John, more nice mono shots from Fuji of assorted subjects and several more nice ones that I have enjoyed looking at.

I have gone with one that is a lovely picture, with heaps of detail, especially when viewed in the large version, and must have been a very lucky catch - right place, right time and very well caught.

So well done JHFoto - great shot and so lovely to look at.

POTW - w/e 19.8.18
A good range of subjects and treatments this week, and yet again, I've gone for a subject that doesn't usually appeal to me at all. I'm not in the least bit interested in any form of competitive sport, but this image really stands out for me. The Cisco Kid, by John2, has been caught at exactly the right moment, with a fantastic motion blur, but the car and its driver pin sharp. I hate to think where you must have been standing to get this front-on view!

Well done John - a very professional image.

This week's choice is a little different for me, as I don't often choose portraits. But this chap, in Fuji's 'Practicing what I preach' thread, really appeals. He looks a true character, and Fuji has caught his very direct gaze with a lovely sharp photograph. The blurred background puts the focus squarely on the man's face.

Well done Fuji, and kudos to you for daring to ask him to pose!

Once again we've have a very good selection of images, some great macro's from Leon and Wearylandcrab - even clicker got in the act with a photobombing hover. Some great street photography and abstracts from FUJI, a whole bunch of landscapes from BP, Kobione, Stravinsky and Chris and a nice range of wildlife shots from John and Chris.

But this from Bill was stunning..

Sometimes I like a well crafted landscape, sometimes I like a monochrome that grabs you by the (insert your own anatomy) and sometimes I like to be entertained.

You know what - I like this for the fun, well seen, nicely crafted and entertaining photograph that it is.

Thats what a POTW should be...

POTW - w/e 17/6/2018
Some lovely pictures to browse through again this week, and it's nice to see the bird activity and lovely flowers, great street portraits and some interesting camera movements results.

I've gone with one that is such a lovely, simple, but excellently presented image. The toning is spot on for the subject, you are taken straight to her eyes, but not harshly so, all the face features are so gentle. This is well worth a look in the larger view.

Well done Clicker, a beautifully presented image of a lovely subject too.

There have been some absolute stonkers this week, making it very difficult to choose just one, but the absolute stand-out photo for me is this one, Black Pearl's Poppies. I could see this on a poster or a calendar. I love the colours in it, and with that soft light it's just bursting with atmosphere. There's a great depth in it too, with the clearer poppies in the foreground, the middle band of poppies and trees, and then the distant hills. Well done BP!

Steady as she goes ...
Yesterday evening  this  ladybird,  having just spent five minutes supping amber nectar, looked decidedly inebriated as she swayed from side to  side  as if keeping her  balance, walking uphill along the clematis stem ...

Not a macro study  by any means ... More of a close up ...taken with my bridge Panasonic FZ1000
