Hard Subject at night? A Millipede!

Damn these things are so shiny shelled it is I reckon almost impossible to get a photo of them at night time - meaning flash! And they don't stay still, despite their apparent slowness they just keep on bloody moving!

Still, never one to let an opportunity go by - I still went for it!

Having taken and posted quite a few shots of Millipedes in the past I know just how difficult they are to capture, it isnt just their turn of speed, but getting the whole in focus with a dedicated macro lens is nigh impossible......even more so if using extension tubes.

Unless a dead one is found or you are cruel enough to freeze one, a stack shot is impossible.....you have done very well.

You can see from my example focussing is very difficult.

Exactly m8.

Overhead shots give you half a chance - the thickness of the body is small, but tackle it head on and it cannot be done.

I nearly always aim for the eyes hence the few environmental shots I post compared to the close up facial features shots.
