Alder Beetle on Aquilegia

Recommended Posts

Funnily enough I do the same  for  some flower pics Paul .  It saves  a lot of work isolating and selecting  in photoshop  and  looks entirely natural and aesthetically  pleasing . I  think the last of these images is  brilliant ! Well  done on a striking set Paul !

I have over a dozen cards printed at A5 which I got from a macro tog called Stewart Wood. He sells them for a cheap price, but I got them for free in a little giveaway - in a live Youtube presentation where when you spotted a secret code you put it into his chat and the first to do so won  :)

Thank you for sharing your use of painted backgrounds for your macro subjects. I haven't done it yet but intend to make some for my macro subjects. I've painted background boards for still life and food photography - dark moody backgrounds in particular.

Great photos, by the way, especially #4. The colour of the beetle is really enhanced by the pink.

I took 3 cards out, one had hints of blue and yellow, a second had greens and reds (sort of worked that one) but settled on the red and pink so rather than a contrasting background it became complimentary.

Trial and error in the garden sometimes goes pearshaped because any delays to try options can often mean a subject has taken flight before you choose.

Paul.
