CAFE SCENE

Recommended Posts

At last , face coverings are being removed, I have missed practicing my Street Photography and Portraiture so much during lockdown .

This morning a pal and I ventured into a relatively new Coffee Shop , one of three which opened in town during lockdown and restrictions. Surprisingly and against all odds all three have thrived. Mainly because they opened their doors to take-away collection only, so carrying hot coffees almost became a fashion statement…..their outside seating  soon became very popular too.
Now they are riding the popularity wave……long may it continue….. I know that they have given COSTA a bit if a bloody nose along the way.

I’m so glad to have you back posting your street photography, Fuji! I really like this black and white photo: the strong contrast suits the subject and reminds me of the photojournalist style of the mid century. The composition works well too - all in balance.
The man appears to be looking into the camera which takes away the sense of the viewer being unobserved- I wished he wasn’t but don’t know why my mind thought that.

I really liked this ... a striking image  not least  because of the  stark black and white contrasts used ... the converging ceiling   beams keep the image  grounded and I  like the fact that  one  person has caught your eye and noticed you whilst the other three are completely oblivious to your presence. ...it's also  great timing that the  man in the foreground was looking at his phone and his face was consequently  illuminated   with a  low subtle light . Without that , the result may have been too much dark shadow and only a silhouette in this part of the image and  would have altered the sense of balance in my opinion .. a well crafted  image .
