The forum is quiet this week and I'm looking forward to the arrival of Spring when you all get out with your cameras. Dennis's images of the beach huts with a great background of cirrus clouds were runners-up, if that's a thing, and my choice for Pic of the Week was ColinB's set 3 #1 Museum of the Moon especially #1. I like the subject and the symmetry.

Just consulted my atlas of the Lunar far side and the large ringed plain to the right with the two dark patches is a area known as Apollo the large round crater with the dark crater at 10,oclock is Oppenheimer. The plain at the top edge is Mare Ingenii one of the only two Mare on the far side, the dark crater at 8'o clock from Ingenii is Jules Verne.

The topography of the Moons far side is rougher and distinctly different to the nearside and more closely resembles  the planet Mercury.
