Thank you Denis. I bought it at the florist and am pretty sure it was commercially grown. There is alot of cotton grown in Australia.

I guess there are other ways to achieve a high key effect but what I do is position the subject against a light background and use spot or centre weighted metering on the subject which over exposes the background.

Ooooh... that's nice Cheryl... not easy to get detail on white objects especially with high key effects... You have managed that nicely...I have an ambition to get a swan on dazzling reflective  water with it's feather detail showing .... hmmmm one day ..:lol:

I have never seen cotton growing up close like that before...they look like  miniature clouds or sticks of candy floss!
