What about a Grey Dagger moth caterpillar - and friends...?

Recommended Posts

I found a cat on one of the shrubs today, and took a couple (especially for Clicker 😉 ) with my 15mm f/4 LAOWA wide angle lens as well as my usual plethora of 60mm Venus  photos. And what turned out to be a more fascinating encounter became obvious as I went in closer and closer, eventually 2:1 and with a tube too... It had company...

This is one of the things I just love about macro - when you get a closer look, it's astonishing what else there can be...

I usually would use a tripod, main reason being these lenses have no stabilisers built in and I struggle to hand hold. The tripod also means with care and a slow approach I can line up my subject precisely, focusing on eyes.

Of course, hand holding has to be done sometimes, it's just harder for me a lot of the time.

I'm trying to find out if they travel onboard or feed there..

Several smaller bugs use larger ones as means as transport to get to where they feed. The LAOWA 15mm looks very interesting, but I'm assuming it's another manual focus lens?

Yes, all manual Geoff, and just as hard, maybe even harder to use....

Good Grief Paul .... what are they...? Parasites or  just hitchhikers ....? I appreciate what  you found  the closer you got  but I really like  the  first two for their aesthetic quality ...  Hmmm  I do like that lens ...

Right Polly - according to my associate at LAOWA, this is what you should be looking at:
