Spider mites are tough to get...

I find spider mites challenging - they are nearly always on the move and not very big...

Yes did well with these, I've seen red spider mites lots of times and they are very small and never stop.

When they do stop, they are usually facing the wrong direction too... I managed just the one head-on photo!

Just brilliant Paul……you have captured great detail of a bug that used to fascinated me as a very small child….. we had a south facing front door, so sitting on the step was a very pleasant place to be…… The front door had faded, powdery green paint, it being mid WWII… … The green made the bright red spider mites stand out as they ran in and out if the cracks and joins of the panels……. I spent ages just being fascinated by these tiny creatures….

They unfortunately provide no real benefit - they can ruin plants (especially in the greenhouse) and offer little in the way of biodiversity - apart from maybe being a food source for something.

Moreover, if you squish them they leave horrid red streaks!
