Piccaninny Creek running

Recommended Posts

This creek is mostly dry but has been running for months due to better than usual rains in central Victoria. We went for a drive yesterday for the first time in months, masks ready if we ran into anyone. We didn’t. The cropping farmers are preparing for high yields of grain and canola. Saw a couple of blokes with metal detectors as the price of gold has gone up and this gold mining country.

Looks really nice there. Those trees look very old!

Paul.

It is very beautiful when the water is running. They are Red Gums (Eucalyptus) trees. Probably a couple of hundred years old.

Just goes to show how perceptions  vary ... I just rarely think  of there being that amount of water  so is that really unusual  or is it just dry  there at the creek at the height of summer ...  Oooh I'm on my big 27 inch monitor now and I can see the   wire fence  going across and the trees much more clearly ... i saw it on my iPad earlier this morning  so i can see they are Gum Trees  now ... not Crack Willow  as I thought on my small screen...... <sodemoji.1f609></sodemoji.1f609>

Looks very restful Cheryl.  I don't know.  First the bush fires and now the rain.......and that's before you consider the corona virus.

When droughts break here we get rain and plenty of it: about the right amount and at the right time for crops this year, unlike the rains that came after the 10 years millennium drought that caused devastating flooding and it happened in summer doing no one any good. Of course I’m talking about central Victoria. Different story up north.
