POTW - Week Ending 22/3/2020

My turn for POTW again...
There were quite a few really good images to choose from this week.
Honourable mentions go to:
Barbara for These Boots and
VW Golf for Guess what I'm shooting in my social distancing time?

But my choice for this week is this fabulous Isle of Man harbour from johntwo:
Castletown Harbour IOM.jpg

I love the processing on this and the image really appealed to me as it looks so much like a scene from my beloved Cornwall.

Apologies for the slow reaction to this.  Thanks Hatter and thanks all for the comments.  Mono was my first home and I still enoy it.  Not surprisingly Fuj, Franc' Meadows Sutcliffe is one of my photography heros.  Beken of Cowes started my interest in both photography and wooden sailing boats with his wonderful images of the great J Class Americas Cup contenders of the 1930's.  Sutcliffe (early street really), Ansel Adams (landscape), Karsh (portraits) and Cartier Bresson (more contemporary Street) soon followed.

I've got a calendar of  Sutcliffe Prints  I bought years ago of photos taken in and around  Hull John. (A bit like the fishermen and boats around Whitby ) ....and one special print of two young girls in a doorway that I have framed on a wall ...What a fantastic photographer and documenter of social history he was ...   It's an admiration I absolutely share with you ... and I can see  that influence  here ...
