Hi James .. Your  post   reminded  me of the  Minolta  300X I have mothballed in a box in the back of a wardrobe. It was the memory of using that in the early nineties that  led me to swapping my later DSLR  cameras  for the  FUJI X-T2 and the X-T3.  Just the look was enough  to turn my head  I think ... I really should  get some film and give it a whirl again  maybe ...   Do you have a particular source for your film ?

Hi,

Mostly I get my film from AG Photographic in Birmingham, and I also use their labs for colour processing. If you actually mean an X300 -- then it's a pretty good bet that the capacitors will need replacing, it is a known issue with that series (I had to get my X500 fixed when I returned to film -- it went about half a roll & died).

I absolutely love this shot James, and I really admire your use of film......but.....there is always a but ?

I am itching to see some dodging and burning done to increase the depth and range of all the tones available......do you do any old style Darkroom post processing?

Just curious.

I believe James does his own processing for black and white film  Fooj  .. some of his old cameras look amazing  too ..  I think what he does not know about vintage cameras could probably be written on the back of a postage stamp ...   I often feel like some of the mono images have that old sepia look about tthem ..  like you, they have an old and gentle feel to them of days gone by .

At the moment, I only do the film processing the old-fashioned way. I did do an introductory printing course at AG Photographic last Feb., and have got the necessary kit to do some printing, but...

When I tried to set it all up over Christmas I found that (a) the backouts were not very effective as the needle holes from attaching the Velcro let in a lot of light and a lot gets through the interface between the hooks & loops, and (b) given the location of two of the windows installing it was hazardous (too much leaning over from a stepladder), so I need to rethink how to install those, then I will be able to do traditional printing.

In this case traditional printing would not be a very easy option as I had to clone out some power lines just above the bridge.

I think you exaggerate.
