5 Bridges

A view of the line of 5 footbridges running out over Stiffkey Marsh. To the eye it looked like it should make a great picture, but the result was quite frankly dull.

The camera Jpeg:

Cropping out the vast sky and foreground helps, and here I've converted it to mono with a slight orange filter.

Does anyone have any suggestions for:

1) alternative ways of processing it and

2) for future reference how to capture the scene better in the first place?

There's not a lot of relief to get a different height, and closing up the line significantly by moving to the left quickly gets to bridges obstructing each other. Maybe taking the image in the morning when the light is coming from the right?

P.S. Now to try to find time to pick a few decent shots of the 1000 or so birds from the trip!

Hi There jt

The title is 5 bridges but the image is grass and sky I hope that dosnt sound rude but I would suggest getting as close as you can to one bridge and then try to get them at an angle to convey the rest
I think it was Robert capa that said "if your pictures arnt good enough, your not close enough" It is a great maxim

Thank you. I see what you mean. Probably from near the pool at the left edge of the picture. Something like the image on this page http://www.panoramio.com/photo/46575052 but turned a little bit to the right to get all five in might work. Maybe if I'm up that way again...

I agree with fuzzy - perhaps getting near to and down to the level of the first bridge, then shoot through it trying to pick up as many of the other bridges as you can? You've tried to rescue it in a very worthwhile way, but there wasn't really enough to work with in the original.
