Thanks Clicker, yes, I've been after a photo of a Jay for ages, I see them so often, and they are very, very shy, even more so than Magpies - another one I've yet to get a really good shot of. I managed 5 shots, almost all were in partial shade. Surprisngly it was on the ground, never seen them on the ground before. I'm usually 50-100 yards away when I see them, and then they fly away.

Both Polly.

This beach is a ten minute walk from mine, hence why we're there so often, but the other beaches like Marsden (with the rock and Ron's favourite pub) or South Shields are ten minutes or so in the car so he ends up in the boot afterwards - and in far worse states that this. I've always treat the boot of a car as somewhere filth goes so while it does get the occasional hoov it also typically has a thick layer of sand, mud and a scattering of paw prints.

I passed my test when I was 17 and immediately filled the car with camping gear and subsequently an inch of mud - I was into mountain biking so the car was filled with bikes, mud, rainwater, cow pats and peat - I used to fish so it was full of gear, mud and fish - then I had kids and it was (is) filled with sick, chocolate, sticky sweets and frankly more filth that I thought possible. Jasper just adds another veneer to the abuse it has already been subjected to
