  1. What a beautiful bird Polly, you're clearly pleased as punch, and rightly so. Paul.
  2. I've been watching from the background (I don't do a lot of photography in winter, lol) and for this weeks winner I have picked mikbone's Frozen Lilys image. The plant at the top right seems to be a happy face looking across at to playful relatives! (I know, I have a weird imagination). The cold blue with the still vivid greens caught my attention too. Well done Billy. Original thread here: Paul.
  3. Welcome back Mucker - I used to also work at Jessops (in Preston). Paul.

And they've raised over £140,000 for their charities now. Paul.

    Christmas Charity

For over a decade Mark and Nicola Tipping and their three boys Sam, Joe, and Isaac, have put on a magnificent Christmas lights display. Do your best to visit the display at: 1 Valentines Meadow Cottam Preston PR4 0LF Please enjoy the video, and if you can, make a donation to one or more of the charities listed. Music © by Michael Buble, who kindly allows his music to be shared on YouTube. Raising money for four amazing charities @derianhousechildrenshospice @cardiacriskintheyoung @rosemere_cf & Headway Chorley and Preston. Paul.
  6. Glad you're ok Fooj, stay safe and keep snapping. Paul.
  7. Well done, the light is perfect. Paul.
  8. Great choice! Well done Fogey. Paul.
  9. Same for me really Geoff. I reckon it's an age thing with me... Paul
  10. Yarrow Valley Country Park is a country park managed by Chorley Borough Council in Lancashire, England. It follows the River Yarrow for about 6 miles (9.7 km). It contains much woodland and includes nature reserves, the best known being Birkacre and Duxbury Woods. Parts of the park are reclaimed collieries and other old industrial sites. A haven of tranquillity and beautiful countryside that spans over 700 acres its picturesque landscapes are brimming with rich biodiversity, make it a favoured destination for many. Paul.
  11. Thanks Leon. Your pics will be on a card hopefully... Paul
  12. Unbinding should not be an issue. There are YT videos showing the way to do it. Anyone that can't must be "less than capable at following instructions " shall we say... BTW, mine has the RC-N1 phone controller. Paul.
  13. Cheers Strav. It's the DJI Mini 3 Pro, but I'm contemplating selling it to upgrade to a newer model.... Paul.

    POTW 30/10/23

I've been lurking in the background this week as it was my turn to select the POTW. I enjoyed Fuji's street work as always, the horror of the view from the top of the rotunda in Birmingham (my stomach spun) from Strav and the wonderful B&W of the lady and the storms from Vanguard. That one so very nearly won... but it was usurped at the death by Gareths deer wwwith the drow on it's back. There was just something there that made me smile, and think of David Attenborough! So that's my winner. Thread is here: Richmond Park Paul.

    POTW 16 - 22/10/23.

Cracking as said Billy, love the detail. Paul.
  16. Oh my word Dee, this has come as a shock to all of us. I really hope you improve and come out smiling. I do recall your strength in the past when the world didn't favour you - and no matter what thw world threw your way you would always battle through. This is just a new chapter for you journey book, and a book that has always kept us reading. Stay strong flower. Paul.
  17. Absolutely not - if you go and take B&W I'm sure you'll produce some great images. Paul.
  18. Thanks Geoff. Sadly a lmost all the craft are beyond use nowadays. That said - they will afford some great photography as long as the ground is suitable to stand on, but a lot of it is dangerous. Paul.
  19. Skippool was once a bustling port on the River Wyre, close to the Fleetwood estuary, where ships unload their cargoes. Its popularity fell out of favour when Fleetwood’s port opened in the 1840s. A number of businesses were situated alongside the river to benefit from this trade, including Silcock’s Bone Mill and Tomlinson’s Animal Feeds Warehouse. There was also a small shop that sold tea and sugar to the boatmen. During this time Skippool was a popular site for cock fighting, smuggling and press gangs, and the Ale Houses were infamous for their strong ale, contraband, spirits and drunken mariners. The main feature in my video is (was) the MFV Good Hope, a once proud trawler which was first launched in 1948 from Wick. Decommissioned around 1984 before being bought, was brought to Skippool creek with a view to restore it. Sadly the trawler is now in an advanced state of decay with the wood rotted throughout and totally unsafe to board. Paul.

    Autumn Shades

    Cheers Geoff Paul.

    Autumn Shades

Tried a D-Cinelike to HDR Log Correction: Autumn Shades at Haslam Park, Preston. (This is where the drone records in a "flat colour" ode and needs colour grading.
  22. Lovely find Billy - it could be that this is Phaeolus schweinitzii (velvet top fungus) but it isn't edible. Not 100% sure mind, but it could be one of many similar. Paul.
  23. Well done on being this weeks winner Andyandhazel Paul.
  24. Thank you Dee - glad it evokes some memories. Shame about the covid mind, but I managed 3 years without it, lol... Paul.
