  1. Sad news indeed! Someone posted about Deirdre's passing on her facebook page yesterday, she will be sadly missed. She was the sort of lady who took life by the horns and lived it to the full. May she rest in peace. Happy days with my late wife and Dee!
  2. Managed to get out and about yesterday for the first time in ages due to various health issues. Visited the Derwent Pencil Museum in Keswick, then a walk down to one of my favourite places; the view from Friars Cragg. I'm sure the shot of the gulls on the posts deserves a clever caption but I just can't think of one!
  3. Yes, I was beginning to think it was just me!
  4. Hi Pete, welcome to the forum, I look forward to seeing your pics!
  5. Hi Rhoda, welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing your photos!
  6. Another one from the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Do you see what I could see?
  7. A few interior shots of the Head Gardeners office at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall. I was taken with the muted colours and gentle sunshine through the windows.
  8. Whenever I see pics like this I think of "War of the Worlds." Great set!

    Stacked

A stack of chairs in Durham Cathedral. How sad that this was my favourite shot from a morning spent in such beautiful and emotive surroundings!

    Irony

Using electricity to shed light on a candle! Taken at Acorn Bank near Penrith.
  11. The D850 with the 24-120 f4 is great, but it ain't half heavy. I decided I needed a light walkaround lens, something like a 35mm, so I looked around and found one on Ebay. The thing is it was a set of lenses being sold because they were faulty, unable to focus properly. I decided to make an offer, which was accepted; I can't find a fault with them!
  12. An art installation at The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall.
  13. Great set of images. I like to go out in this sort of environment after a rain shower, the reflections can be awesome!
  14. Congratulations, a well caught image!
  15. Since getting the D850 it's been my main camera and the rest of the cameras haven't been getting much use. My youngest daughter has been showing an interest in photography so I lent her my Nikon D5100 with the kit 18-105 lens. I've since decided to let her keep it which leaves me with no mid range zoom lens. I went onto the MPB website and bought a Nikkor 24-120 f4 zoom since this is the one that is usually paired with the D850 as a kit and is relatively cheap.
  16. Thank you! It means a lot to know that someone enjoyed my pictures!
  17. Just come back from a few days in the north east. Seaham was our first port of call to see the famous war memorial. The sky was hazy cloud and very bright, I've found it difficult to make a decent shot.
  18. A cracking environmental portrait!
  19. Lovely place! I was stood in exactly the same spot just a few weeks ago. Nicely captured.

    New

Hi Homer, nice to see you on here. I look forward to seeing your images!
  21. Spectacular view of the town I used to work in. I wonder if you can still climb to the window near the top of the spire?
  22. That's a strange looking critter, I don't think I've ever seen one before. Nicely caught!
  23. The "Spirit of Barrow" sculpture stands at the crossroads of the main shopping streets in Barrow in Furness. What caught my eye was the man in the Golds Gym vest sat underneath the hammer.
