  1. How some of these buildings are still standing is beyond me. Indeed, a couple of years ago, part of the town was closed down as they demolished an unsafe building.
  2. Well done on POTW , Mikbone.
  3. Well they do say that lightning doesn 't strike in the same place twice - which I disagree with. That's why people erect lightning conducters. I wouldn't like to be paying the insurance on the building in the background. Had any good thunderstorms lately?
  4. My first thought was, 'What a daft place to put lightning conductors', so close to buildings and people. Please tell me those strips are not metal.
  5. I think I prefer the first one with the reflection of the buildiing.
  6. I know what you mean Polly. I shy away from taking photos such as these as I feel I'm cashing in on someone else's misery. The pair's expressions say it all.
  7. Makes me ashamed of my gender.
  8. Despite a number of potential winners, there is only one that really stood out for me and this came from Stravinsky's set, 'Birmingham at night'. The offset composition and underexposure both lead to a dramatic and compelling image. Congratulatins on a stunning photograph, Strav. Full post here.
  9. I would stick with Adobe RGB - there are a much wider range of colours. A link for a really professional photobook. https://www.myphotobook.co.uk/photo-book/styles Look at this Hope this helps.
  10. Very dramatic, Geoff. Congratulations.
  11. Now that I like - very much!
  12. I don't know what to make of this image. The scene looks run down, neglected and overgrown, with saplings growing out of the chimneys, and yet.... Is that a small shopping precinct centre frame?

Ah! I recognise this mill race, Geoff. The monochrome treatment works well.
  14. !'ve already waxed lyrical about this image, Mark. Congratulations on POTW. A worthy winner - Good choice, Gareth.
  15. There is a saga to these photographs....... A problem that I will resolve tomorrow, hopefully. I'll tell you all about it polly, when we next speak.
  16. Welcome Pete. I'll ditto all that's been said.
  17. Managed to get to Attingham park today.
  18. What a stunning image. And on a mobile phone as well.
  19. Thank you all very much. I really am well pleased.
  20. Is she having lunch after the act? definitely foe!
  21. Not really rip-off Mark, when you consider. Japan don't have to pay UK business tax, Uk business utilities costs, business rates and the like.
  22. Hello Rhoda, welcome to the forum. Look forward to your photos.
  23. Sigma, as a rule, have a problem with diffraction especially when wide open and for that reason I avoid their lenses like the plague. If it were me, then I would look at the Canon lens for both quality and reliability. I see on Ebay there is the lens you want in mint condition for £529.99 direct from Japan. With postage and packing and including the duty you'll have to pay. (£120.00 approx), you'll be looking at a total price of £660. (circa). I have bought lenses from Japan before and from paying to delivery it took three days to get to me. Here. 24-70mm Hope this helps.
