  1. I have driven articulated trucks in Russia on two occasions. I vowed never to go back no matter what amount of money I was offered! You cannot really get your head around how fast Russians drive in towns, even in amongst other traffic. They all drive with dashboard cameras as in that youtube clip, as their insurance is absolutely sky high. Any evidence that points out the other driver is at fault helps. But then they are all at fault sometimes! Certainly is a crazy place!
  2. Thanks for that Dave, bookmarked for reading later this week.
  3. I would like to go back to all the countries I have driven through in my 35 year driving career and actually own a decent camera! All I had then was a very cheap instamatic or disposable 24 shot types as per attached image below But a country of choice for a photo shoot for me would be the wilder part of Canada. Not been there but from what I have seen it looks stunning.

    Free websites ?

I have kept a large-ish website for quite a few years now, but nothing to do with photography. It started out as a free website, but I now pay a few pounds a month to keep it at its current size. You wont get a www.domain-name.style web address and you will be subject to the hosting service running adverts on your site. But if you can live with that then so far so good. a friend of mine runs his site from a supplier in the Republic of Ireland who seem to be a lot cheaper than the US of A supplier of my web space, so instead of free, look for cheaper as an alternative .
  6. Truly the other side of the coin Kobi, I'm beginning to wonder if the residents of Hebden Bridge Yorks, Worcester, and most towns in the west country have a similar plan for flood alerts. I hope all goes well for you, temperatures like that i can live without thank you very much!, although my wife loves the heat, I'm a cooler sort of bloke!

Annie! I hope you have been catching up with all the Stones 50th anniversary progs on BBC?, most still on the BBC Iplayer. Lots of footage from the 60's (far too early for you, I know )
  8. Did you check snopes recently or after receiving that?... http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp This is as old as the hills and no longer poses any threat

    Excellent choice too!
  10. I honestly think that while the digital age has made it easier to take photographs, we will suffer eventually by a huge loss of images for future generations to enjoy. There is nothing more I like than to browse old book shops and bric-a-brac stores and stalls for old Victorian photos of my hometown and its local area. But with the advent of the digital age, and I dare say the failure to print only the best, will those future generations be able to rummage through piles of old photos like me? Will the modern inks and papers stand up to time as the old products have successfully done? I have already noticed the decay and fading of a few photos I took only eight or so years ago that were printed at home. And, I have also thrown away CD-ROM's that I could no longer open or view the contents. It would be interesting to hear others view on the subject.

  12. I am so sorry to hear of your loss Richard. Losing ones parents is always a bad time, and posting on internet forums is not a priority. Again, extremely sorry for your loss and thanks for letting us know.
  13. I always get dejected when that bland blank grey cloud stretches from horizon to horizon. It is bad enough for me as a relative beginner to get good shots. So what tips has anyone for making the most of that boring sky?
  14. That a good selection Dave, many thanks. I have downloaded Gimp but find it extremely complex for a beginner, I have yet to get to grips with all the controls on my camera before I even think of tackling that! I do use Fastone though and it seems quite user friendly.
  15. Well deserved, thanks for the techie stuff, it really does help rank amateurs like myself:)
  16. No, no noooooooo Mine really are crap, Lets see what this weekend brings!
  17. That is me all over! I even take mine to work hoping for a good scene or something that takes my eye while out and about. I have taken it in every day this week... and have not taken a single shot. I even go out for long walks every weekend but tend to stay within a certain area but nothing doing the last few weeks. I think its a confidence thing with me, I'm so used to taking rubbish shots that I need more inspiration:)
