  1. September 2006.

The forum was indeed setup by a chap called Ben. He handed over the reins to me (and 2 others, Calum and JohnnyP, they didn't stay around for long, although Johnny did put in an appearance a couple of years ago) in early 2007, Ben's main interest was with film photography, with the forum leaning heavily toward digital he felt it wasn't what he wanted.

  2. Good morning everyone, I trust you're all fit and well in these crazy times.

I wanted to jump in on this one because I, like many, am self isolating, not because I have the virus or been in contact with anyone with the virus, but because I have COPD and simply can't afford to catch it.

Anyway, I saw Rye's post and thought I'd put a list together of some of the many, many YouTube photographers I follow for anyone in a similar situation and struggling to pass the time, hopefully you will find it useful.
There'll be some larger channels that many of you will already know, but also smaller ones that deserve a watch. It's not my complete subscription list but some I feel you will enjoy.

So if boredom does start to set in click one of the links below.

    Stay safe!

  3. Howdo.

Apologies for the late posting, good things come to those who wait

The theme for TIPF In Focus July was 'Colour'.
I've had a good scan through your entries, several times in fact, and there are some really powerful images which made my choices extremely difficult. I sat back and watched 2 episodes of Coronation street, made myself yet another cuppa, watched 2 more episodes of Coronation Street then returned to the computer. I remembered the brief and scoured your images again.

I have finally found the 3 entries that I feel fit the requirements.
So, in no particular order, and all of equal merit, it's congratulations to - sjr - David995031 - Denis

  4. A couple of years ago I was in a similar predicament.

Not having the space for a desktop I initially bought a Windows Surface Book, big mistake, it didn't have the power I needed and wasn't upgradable, I sufferered it for just 3 months before I started looking elsewhere.

After a lot of research I settled on a Dell XPS 9550 and haven't looked back! The build quality is second to none, the screen is stunning and has more power than I'll ever need. I'm running all the Adobe suite - Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects etc.

The 9560 is the most recent incarnation with the 9570 due out shortly, both fall into your price range.

As far as Windows is concerned, I've had zero compatibility or virus issues and all I use is Window's inbuilt Defender software.

Has to be added to your list of possibilities.
