'twas a bright and sunny, though bitterly cold day yesterday so I grabbed the chance to get some daylight shots with this new camera <Note to self: Do NOT buy new camera gear in Winter, when it's cold, wet and short, lousy daylight> A short drive took me to here in Woolwich. I've been promising myself a trip here since it was built but, like most local areas, I never got around to it..... Looking up-river, with the O2 'Dome' and the 'Emirates AirLine' cable cars in the distance..... Zoomed in on the lights on #9 pier.... One of the rotating gate sides, Wikipedia has a good diagram of just how simple it all works.... One of the 'Emirates Airline' pylons against 'The Docklands' , with the O2 Dome pylons behind.....

Those are both excellent shots the colour of the first is lovely but the angle of the incoming duck in the second just edges it for me.

My thoughts precisely when I saw the title too ... then I saw something that was in good shape for its age .made some odd sounds when in motion and still makes a ruddy good impression when working in an environment that really suits it ... so not far off the mark was I.?

I think i like this one more than the first,I would still be tempted with a bit of selective sharpening and a lift to the colours .

I found this one sooc ..SQUARE cropped this time and rotated slightly to alter the twig angle but I haven't sharpened it at all ... looks a bit better focus .....I think..BTW ... this was the first time i had used the setting that tracks the focus even if the subject momentarily moves behind something ....

Might be worth losing the spare twig and dulling the adjacent highlight but the composition is superb and it sharpens up beautifully. Nice capture Clicks.
