First Spyder Elite calibration

Recommended Posts

Just borrowed a Spyder Elite calibration kit off a friend and used it to calibrate my screen tonight.

Have a look at the two images below please - the first shows the levels histogram, the second the actual photo of a running crab spider from a few nights back.

How does it all look on your screens please?

Here is the actually photo without the Photoshop CC detail screen:

Anyone got any links to any valid side by side comparisons to the Spyder Monitor and Printer systems and the Munki Versions

Personally I have only used Spyder for my Monitor and Spyder and profile prism for my printer, but still wonder if becoming a Munkiboy will make things any better.

If there are no reviews between these two what the opinions from those that have actually used both systems.

I don't know of any links either.

I must say, from visual memory, after calibrating using the Spyder, then the Munki, both changed the monitor by darkening and warming up the finished result, and to be honest, they both looked the same...

I can certainly understand calibrating your monitor to your printer, and saving it as a custom calibration.

However, for everyday purposes I cannot see the point. No two people ever see colour exactly the same way. I always re-calibrate a new computer screen to MY eyesight, and I feel certain that one of these professional devices would make the colours look 'wrong' (to me).

For my everyday purposes, the screen has got considerably better since the calibration.

The browns and greens, especially in shadow areas looked mucky and murky. Sh1te actually.

Since the calibration, they are back to looking normal again. The software and hardware looks at the colours, gamma, contrast etc and that clearly was wrong on my monitor.

Interesting - on a Mac it's very easy to adjust all those values by walking through the calibration steps and using your own eyes to make the adjustments.

OK, here are the grub/caterpillar comparisons.

One before I calibrated, and one I have just re-edited from the RAW file in LR & Photoshop CC, after the calibration.

I can see the difference.

Can you?
